How to speed up the growth of the mycelium

The mycelium in one of my cakes has hardly grown over the last couple of days. The substrate is too wet I think. Now I consider turning the cake upside down - this could provide some more oxygen to the mycelium. Question is: does that make any sense? If not, is there anything I can do to speed up the growth of the mycelium? Here are 2 pictures of the cake:

The substrate does look a little wet, have you got the inoc holes covered with tinfoil? if so remove.
Theres not much you can do about it but let it grow.

I didn't cover the small holes with foil, I used hot glue instead. However, I could try to remove the glue. On the other hand, doesn't that increase the risk of contamination?

U need the inoc holes for gas exchange, this will certainly cause myc to stall.
If you have a dry verm barrier, then the holes can be left open, u can put micropore over the tapes just to feel safe. (if its not got the dry verm filter then opening the holes will introduce contams)

It does look a little wet but hard to tell from pics, but removing the to help air curclation assuming you have a dry verm. Layer.

im not so sure there gonna finish i had a cake that was no where near as wet as that and it stalled at about 60% colonisasion, you need to let it breath and get the water consistecy right dryer is better than wet in my own experience

The mycelium is still growing (!), albeit very slowly. This is a picture I shot 12 hours later:

I can see some new mycelium near the bottom of the cake. What did I do? I increased the temp from 25C to 28C. As for more air exchange: there is a filter on top of the filterbox (hence the name:). I'm a bit reluctant to remove the glue, perhaps this could damage the lid somewhat. Anyway, I'll wait a couple of more days and watch the growth of new mycelium closely by taking lots of pix. Any more advice is still very welcome!

oh, so its got a filter then, that lets it breathe? then you wont need to remove the glue.
Odd design of tub.

You can buy "such" designs online:
http://azarius.net/shrooms/growing_accessories/filterbox/
So this saves you from making a filter.

The foil is a bit wet, probably because water tries to escape through the foil. BTW, I needed foil because I had trouble closing the lid properly. It shouldn't be necessary though.

its really not nessasary to worry about filter just micropore tape the holes you make on ennoculation one layer of foil as long as you have a verm barrier is great

Because it is not a sponsor of the shroomery? Sorry if I violated the rules of this board. Anyway, I've changed the link into a link of a shroomery sponsor.

@grandesign: Last week I found shoulderless glass jars - I had trouble finding them initially. I'll use them from now on. BTW, there are no signs of contamination
