torch decay
    #7728705 - 12/07/07 01:16 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

heres the nicest looking torch i have from seed. looks fine

dig around a bit and discover a nasty cavity.

the roots are still working, and it stands well, it seems the rot only affected the green tissue that was under the dirt.

so, instead of slicing the whole plant and re-rooting, ive opted to scoop away the rot and let the affected area sit above the soil to callous and recover, ill watch it and if it keeps spreading, ill slice it right off, let it dry, and reroot. theres nothing wrong with the roots themselves tho.

probably started when i bent this one all the way over and damaged the tissue at the base.

I had a Bridgesii that got partial rot at the bottom but also rooted so I left it. Now over a year and a half later it is fine.

be glad you don't have tooth decay like me, cant eat or drink anything cold or hot without sharp nerve pain

*good luck with the torch, I guess less watering or some more sand in the soil so it drains quicker could help?
