my cake came out, and it was bloody white, like really really white not fuzzy but i fink i overdid it with the spores they grew in about 4-5 weeks. i birthed em and they were fine for about a week then i got a grey-blue color on the top of the cake(bottom of the tub) almost looks like they got a bit damp? mushrooms are growing and they look rather healthy, fink i should jus chuck it all n start a fresh batch???

my first lot by the way

question. what strain is it, and from what vendor did you buy it/
what substrate are you using?

start a fresh batch? well cant u post a pic, dear?

what did you clean the tub with, and how long before you put the cake in it? explain your setup. contams are contextual, both infrastructurally and procedurally. but i guess you just asked are they contamed, but without a pic it would be hard to say. it may just be some bruising since of course these dears are well shrooms rite, and they stain blue, its normal to stain blueish grey like that, since they have a deep seablue metallic kind of blue when bruised, although the shading of the blue varies somewhat with strains, but it is generally normal for a blue-silverish stain, both on mycelium and mushroom. It is definitely also a sign of bruising or lack of moisture... or contams maybe, but then it should be a clearly definable green.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Please do not type like that if you want people to take time to answer your questions.

The bluing on top of your cakes is most likely bruising due to lack of humidity or because they are older cakes.

You do not need to throw out your cakes, let them fruit. When they are done fruiting dunk them for 24 hours and put them back in your fruiting chamber.
