I spent New Year's 1999 on a beach in Puerto Vallarta. Good times...
This year I agreed to go to a fancy dinner and dance thing at the Convention Center. I'm going to try to get out of it because the tickets are a hundred bucks and I bet drinks are going to be $5+... Fuck that, I can't afford any extra shit during the holidays. WTF was I thinking?

99 - I was 15, I was up at Mammoth Mountain with my friend and his family, I don't even think we went out--where do you go when you're 15?
Last year we went to Giant Maximus in downtown LA, took some molly and split a MDA pill--, and it kicked in just as Armin Van Buren took the side stage. Best night of my life, better than my first roll, (maybe). Total samhadi for 5 hours, I felt like I had taken in the whole universe. My body became a mass of tactile tracers flowing through a music visualizer-->best thing ever.
This yea we're gonna do the exact same thing

Beats the hell out of me dude. Probably nowhere. That's why I said to share some more recent experiences too. Sounds like you had a great time last year though.
It's kinda funny how I think back to when I was really young and it was a big deal just to stay up to see the ball drop. Nowadays, midnight is when I start thinking about going to sleep everynight.
But yeah, New Year's '99 I had a blast. I was 18 and just started tripping maybe a year before that. I remember I had a few hits from out of a vial and it actually ended up making me a better drinker that night. I'm not sure exactly whose place I was at. There were a bunch of people there that I knew and maybe a couple that I didn't. A fight ended up breaking out at one point. I'm usually a bit on the introverted side but I seem to remember being pretty social. On the other hand, my buddy was the one that stayed sitting in the damn corner of the room. Didn't say nothing at all hardly, just sat there laughing his ass off all night.
We ended up going back to my parents house eventually and that's when my hangover/acid comedown hybrid really started hitting me. My buddy started talking again, and boy did he, 'cause I remember him playing all these head games with me and me being too out of it to care or try and stop him. But we had an awesome time and the y2k bug apparently didn't screw everything up so it was cool.
If the majority of my future New Year's Eves are on the uneventful side though, I might actually consider that a good thing.

By "the tribe", you guys mean STS9?
Sorry. Just not something I'm up on (until now?)
I did a search.
