I just killed a kitty!

Was driving home from the health club about 40 mph and saw a dark shape in the middle of the lane at the last second. Couldn't make it out and had no time to slow down. Then it turned into the headlights and and as it eyes lit up, I saw it was longhair gray cat lying down. I swerved to the left just as he darted under my tire. CRUNCH! His iddy biddy kitty head exploded!
I feel sick.

Ah dude... I am sorry to hear that. It never feels good to accidentally kill something.
Last time I hit a bird I saw it fall to the ground behind me and watched it flapping in my rear view mirror as I drove away. When I got home, I felt so bad that I went back to the spot with a basket lined with towels and a cup of sunflower seeds. I got there but it was gone. Oh well, I tried.

No way to tell. I didn't stop because it was most certainly dead. My tire went up in the air, then there was this horrible sound like a giant walnut cracking and the tire dropped suddenly along with my stomach.
Don Juan would say it was the cat's fate. I dunno if that means anything.
I don't have a cat now, but have had several in my life. I love the little flea-bags.

Meanwhile, certain pop-psychologists from the 70's would say that you subconsciously wanted it dead. Anyway, psychobabble aside, I'm sorry you had to endure this tragedy.

I killed a raccoon accidentally once. The only consolation was that it didn't suffer. It doesn't sound like your cat did either, if that helps any.

I know how you feel. Its love unconditional were talking about here. But imagine you were the cat, knowing that you did it by mistake, with a deep resentment and guilt, do you think the cat would have you suffer for it, emotionally?
I know it wouldnt something tells me it does tho and you may have to reconcile with its spirit. Just direct your intention towards doing this, even tho you dont, just open all mind and try!
-------------------- The mind is a creative tool. It searches to protect you, through message sensations(feelings). It is no different than a computer, you need to make sure its anti-virus program is in check and that it doesnt have a script that limits your experience, because of to much precaution. And remember the computer does not appear to respond to words of anger and frustration - just give it input, in the form of new meanings that you know to be true and its messages to you and the limits it lays out for you, will change. Guilt is an outcome of believing you are the cause of the problems. Yet, we are not a cause to something, we see is negative or bad - Unless you believe your intentions are directed towards a bad outcome....

Cats shouldn't sleep in the road at night... Not your fault man.
Besides, if it wasn't you, it would've been someone else... Maybe a young female, just learning to drive who would have been MORTIFIED by the experience...
You saved someone else the trouble, cause the cat was dying sooner or later.

I feel sick.
You have an interesting philosophy.

He may have been obliquely referring to the lack of philosophical content in this post.

I think I get it. Compassion, regret, life and death are not philosophical concerns.
Perhaps we could discuss works of fiction or lights in the sky...

You didn't frame it in those terms, and you did not pose a philosophical topic for discussion. As is, this is more of a Pub-style post.
