What are these...pre-pins?

I birthed a few PF cakes two nights ago (4 stropharia and one PF classic) and when I checked on them this morning, a few have these tiny little fuzzy mycelium balls growing off of them. Are these on their way to becoming pins or what? The terrarium is kept at 77 degrees and 95-96% rh

That extra layer of white stuff is mycelium on its last search for food. You will see hyphal knots forming, little white bumps, then pins should follow. And you know the rest......

Heh, sorry if I'm being impatient, but these jars took over a month to colonize...so they should start pinning in what, like a few days?

They should pin within 4-9 days of being birthed. This can take much longer though, and it will always seem like more than the excpected time. Patience and not fucking with the cake every hour will have its rewards though
