So I can safetly say now that ive hunted subbs successfully in every month of the year down here. These are some from the last several weeks. not even close to all my pics though... just some teases.

I find em usually no more than two dozen to a lawn. But it can go the opposite way too!

well, I haven't looked today, but I bet my patches are still going... It has been in the high seventies the past couple of days. Cool at night, but not much different than so cal nights, IIRC.

Ive honestly thought about picking subbs and not working but im not down for the distribution. it would be easy enough for me though.
I was confronted by a Superintendent of Construction in my present picking grounds and I gave him my name and the "project for school i was doing" and he gave me his card and told me to come back as many times as I needed. I love subb picking in areas im protected by management. ive been hauling 200 specimens every three days since thanksgiving.

Good job!! My subbs quit a month ago and I don't expect them back soon. It has been down to 32 deg. at night.

those look like miniature cubensis! you are so lucky. The subbs i get in my neck of the woods are comparable to pine needles with small marbles on the top. I need to find some fertilized lawns.
Most of the people around here use chem-lawn, not manure, if they fertilize their lawn at all...

id like to find a subb one time. Ive never really looked all that hard for obvious reasons but maybe after the woodlover season ill put some time in. If anything theyll make good pics, i dont think id pick any unless i found enough to make some blue juice.

The subbs over here taste fine. if you put them in some butter/salt/pepper (garlic if you want) they taste just fine.

I think they taste pretty good fresh - very similar to a button mushroom but a bit spicier.

the caps taste fine... the stems, on the other hand, tend to taste like grass.
