In the PF Tek, you use perlite to raise the humidity in your fruiting chamber, so your cakes can fruit. Now my thought is this, what if one was to crumble their cakes, as shown HERE, but continued pf style by placing the crumbled substrate over the perlite.
Would one grow more shrooms this way or by birthing and fruiting the cakes alone?

You might get more mushrooms if you crumbled a cake but they will be very very small.
Weight wise you are much better off birthing dunking and fruiting whole cakes.

I know what your thinking, that sitting the substrate in direct contact with the perlite will help keep the substrate hydrated, thus helping make bigger mushrooms.
While this will supply moisture to the substrate, there is no way to control how much and the substrate will become waterlogged.
The pf tek is best left as is, dunk for 24 hours then roll in verm.
The only advantage i see of crumbling and casing is the microclimate you give the myc (allowing good mositure at the surface of the myc for good pin formation) which the moist verm rolled cake should do.

i agree but i dont think its worth casing cakes when its so easy to spawn to coir and give it the nutes it needs for a real good grow, ok it may take a bit longer, with the extra incubating but its gotta be worth it , good things come to those who wait and all that lol

i have jars colonizing on my first grow. I wasn't sure if I should crumble and case them or not.
What's the best/safest way to get maximum fruits in weight without using hpoo?

Without using poo, but using a pressure cooker or without using poo?
If you don't want to use a PC, cakes spawned to pasteurized coir or straw would be bigger fruiters. If you can use a PC, grain spawn to coir or straw or straight cased grains.

Yeah, i think that it would be more benificial to crumble and spawn cakes to a bulk sub, i have heard many times that crumbling and casing cakes produces just as much as straight dunk n rolled cakes.
Which makes sense since there arent any extra nuitrients, if you run out of nuitrients then more water just isnt going to help.
I would still like to try it myself just for the experience.
