So you think the entire NIE report can't be trusted because Dr. Fingar (according to Murdoch's wall street Journal) is a "hyper-partisan anti-Bush official?" You are going to have to find better evidence than that if you really want to deflate the gravity and validity of the report. This isn't mud slinging, we're talking about Iran's interest in Nukes.

Actually, I think all three of the writers were Bush haters. Their track record isn't so great either. I don't think Murdoch has taken over yet.
The validity of NIE's is always suspect because of the language they use. They never say anything, they just assess confidence levels. Fingar testified 4 months ago that Iran was going for it. Then he writes this. Am I suspicious? You bet. I've had some real issues with a runaway intelligence and state department for some time. THEY and the press are the elitists who think they run the country.

I understand your skepticism. It is healthy. I just don't see how you could say that the NIE made all of this up just because they were Bush haters. That doesn't really make sense. It may be a part of the picture but it doesn't lead anywhere.

As he should be, for he has been an enabler of its nuclear weapons program and has stiff-armed European Union diplomats who have worked to restrain Iran.

I know it's a blog but I think he has his facts straight.
The State Dept and the CIA have long ago lost any sense that they are controlled by the elected representatives. They want to make policy in the dark of night with no end accountability. I am particularly disgusted with the State Dept and have been for some years.
