Flipping Container
    #7724854 - 12/06/07 02:58 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

Hi. I've filled some Tupperware containers with coco coir and PF cakes. One of the containers is nearly finished with colonization but is growing mushrooms on the bottom because I foolishly neglected to put tin foil around the sides(it's sitting in a covered container, but I imagine the light got in when I didn't pull the blanket far enough over the container.

I'm planning on flipping the substrate into an identical container, then dunking it for 24 hours(mostly in the fridge with the lid on top and then a couple of hours under a lightly flowing tap. I assume then it's too late to case, right? Also, should I pick the mushrooms before I dunk? Will they be able to survive or grow especially since they've been growing in such cramped quarters?

I've used the search engine and found that the consensus seems to be that flipping is OK, but I didn't see anything addressing the 2nd paragraph.

If the fruit aborts when you dunk, remove it. Otherwise let it grow. Often, fruits survive the dunking process fine.

OK. My concern was that the stems and everything seemed flattened and sort of splayed across. If they do grow, will they be able to grow vertically? Either way, it's in the fridge now so we'll see, but I'm just anxious to know.
