I'm reading Neil Young's biography and now I have no choice. $200 on concert tickets.

I'm reading Shakey, Neil Young's Biography, by Jimmy McDonough. One of the best non-fiction reads I've ever had my hands on. The chronological telling of Young's life is interspersed with entire sections in italics that are interview sessions between the author and Neil Young. So it alternates between Young's personal take on his own life and the writer's. Well I'm about 80 pages in and I just decided, for fuck's sake, I NEED to see Neil Young. I don't just want it. i NEED it.
So I just spent $200 getting me and a friend two standing room tix right next to the stage for his show a week from yesterday here in NYC. So fucking excited. If you like Neil Young, you should read Shakey.

Damn man, I thought he was one of the best shows of the weekend. I'm pretty sure that at some point in the set, might have been between "like a hurricane" and the feedback jam, he set his guitar aside, jumped down off of the stage, and strolled a ways back through the field before grabbing my skull by the eye sockets and tearing it clear down the center to expose the delicate brain matter beneath. Pretty sure.
I have that set on DVD, by the way, if anyone's interested.
Oh, and $200 is far too much for any single show anywhere, anyone.

He was good at Bonnaroo. I was chilled out at camp while he was onstage and the sound was damn good. like live neil young on the radio or something. definitely an interesting way to experience an american legend.
i agree that $200 a head is highway robbery regardless of who is onstage. i would contend that anything over $100 is ludicrous for a single act. i start laughing once the prices go past $50, tho.
Neil Young = NY.... ooooooh.
