embarrassing monotub question

I'm embarrassed to ask this but its not clearly stated elsewhere. Where does the light come from in a monotub grow? Seems like pinning is initiated with no light. Do you just have clear tops and put them near a window? Floro sticks? I can't believe these things, they weren't around when I did my first few grows years ago.

i usually goto a hardware store and pick up their smallest pane of that plastic window glass you can get REAL glass too, for cheaper. (watch those edges though)
then i cut a similar sized hole in my lid and silicone the window onto it
it's pretty eazy to keep such a small window covered during incubation
all under $5
cheers!

What is the benefit of a monotub over the same depth casings in a rubbermaid with a light and humidifer? Seems like with the casings your goods are sectioned off, contam won't fuck your whole project. Also allows for staggering harvests. Seems like monotubs are known for their one flush wonders, is this because of the humidity lost from the tub due to mushrooms and evaporation? Seems like flushes would be better with a humidifier.

If you ever do a monotub successfully. You will probably only want or need one flush. Secondly, Most people like bulk grows in tubs because they are pretty simple to maintain.
