Three cheers for thoughtful people

I really appreciate thoughtful people. I don't think I'm inconsiderate but I'm so scatterbrained (ever since I was a child my mom's nickname for me was "The Absent-Minded Professor") that I overlook opportunities to do thoughtful things. Or, if I pick up on an idea that might be sweet or just kind to do for someone I love, a lot of the time I'll just think how nice it would be to do that..and not just follow up.
But thoughtful people rock. Yesterday I mentioned, in passing conversation, something about remembering lighting a menorah as a child and how it was a fun thing to do even thought I don't really have any sort of religious investment in it. So today my friend calls me on her way home and she's outside my apartment building with a little menorah and set of candles. And it was nice to have them burning, even if it had little to do with any idea of being Jewish, it just reminded me of home, and growing up.
Nice move, that one.

Yeah my thoughtfulness has a four-month delay on it, but when it delivers, it is sweet as fuck-all.

I believe that when the aliens make contact, they will praise the spork as our finest invention.

Indeed. It's not a spoon.. it's not a fork. It's fucking BRILLIANT!
I still think chopsticks are the superior eating utensil though.

I'm know how to pick up sushi and noodles and veggies and meats with chopsticks, that I can do, but I'm so bad at getting just plain old rice with those things.

That's why they invented sticky rice and rice balls. At least that's what my sushi chef told me once upon a time.

big athritis epidemic over in china, yet people still refuse to put down the chopsticks, those brave souls!
It's funny because my gf just brought up this topic with me yesterday, how i have "the sweetest ideas" but i never follow them up. really wish i could be more thoughtful, it always seems like my timing is off and then can't act upon my thoughts. *sigh*

Also, thoughtful people do rock. I like to think of myself as thoughtful. Its a great way to make and keep friends.
-------------------- "To do right is to know what you want. Now when you are dissatisfied with yourself it's because you are after something you don't really want. What objects are you proposing to yourself? Are they the objects you really value? If they are not, you are cheating yourself. I don't meant that if you chose to pursue the objects you most value, you will attain them; of course not. Your experience will tell you that. But success in getting after much labor what you really don't care for is the bitterest and most ridiculous failure." -George Santayana
