What do you mean by "burn flac"? Are there hardware flac optical players out there?

I'd convert them to wav, then burn using GnomeBaker.

If you don't have flac installed (I'm sure you do, but just in case...)

sudo apt-get install libflac++6

In that case, convert them to wav/pcm audio, then make an audio disc. I don't like ubuntu's inbuilt cd burner, but unfortunatly my experience with linux cd burning is limited, so I cannot advise on something that'd convert PCM/wav into CDA.

k3b will do it. also, k3b is the best burning program, pay or free.

flac conversion figured out now, but it doesn't recognise a blank cd-r now. if it's not one thing it's another.

thanks. it seems brasero is fried. i'm also trying out a few others that seem nice. is k3b comparable to the better versions of nero being able to burn data disk and all?

edit: when installing k3b through synaptic, i see several k3d options, will i be ok just installing the base program or do i need to install all of them to be able to burn flac -> wave and make mp3 data disk?

like i said, i think k3b is the best burning program on any OS at any price. you should also try out amarok. it is another kde app that kills any other music player. who knows... you may be a kde user stuck in gnome-land. if you arent happy with ubuntu, give linux mint kde4 a try.

well, now that terminal doesn't restart and i have a functioning burner and my wireless works i'm kinda scared to switch. maybe after i upgrade the memory i'll try. i was thinking about dropping 2 half gig pc 100 sticks in it and then upgrading. i currently only have 128 ram.
