Grateful Dead "Shroomery Picks Vol. 1" download thread

Today, I will upload the entire Grateful Dead "Shroomery Picks Vol. 1" CD. This was a Grateful Dead compilation CD that was put together back in 2003 by different Shroomerites. There were 3 editions of "Shroomery Picks". I have the first and the third and I love listening to them. The songs are great and I love the fact that each of those songs meant something special to one of our fellow Shroomerites.
Back in the old days (2003), we didn't have a website that we could upload the tracks to. Ripple (and KK?) sent out close to 200 CDs through the mail, addressed to Shroomerites, in the snow, both ways. Now, we can upload tracks directly to The Shroomery. Today I'm uploading this historic Grateful Dead compilation to The Shroomery for posterity so that generations of future Shroomerites can download it from one thread. Here goes..................

that halfstep has always been one of my favorite recorded grateful dead moments. the serene jam after the main part of the song turns into psychedelic madness and it all comes back into reality so smoothly...

I love this version of "Morning Dew". It's intense and emotional, especially the last guitar solo. It's just incredible.

I'm not hating--its just that I've been listening to stuff from 69 lately, just amazing to hear how they turned out eight years later.

What happened to the "Ruben & Cherise" encore?
Or was that Vol 2?

I actually do not have Vol. 2. I was going to upload Volumes 1 and 3 and then ask someone to upload Volume 2. If someone out there wants to upload that for everyone to have, by all means start a new thread. I never wanted it because "Shroomery Picks Vol. 2" is all Jerry Garcia Band. I still to this day have never explored many of the band member's side projects. I don't have anything from JGB. I've heard a little from them, but for some reason, I've never bothered investigating further. That's why I didn't get Vol. 2. I want it now though. I'm ready for it. Lay it on me.
I still need Ripple to tell me which Shroomerites donated which songs on "Shroomery Picks Vol. 1". If pillow doesn't know, then only Ripple or KK would know I think. Ripple?

KC definitely donated more than most and helped K and I with the burning and distribution of Cd's as did others.

actually most of volume one was picked by me and no songs were sent to me on the first volume. We just talked about if the song was a favorite or not in the thread. It was not until volume two that I received Cd's from others with songs on them that I didn't already have in my collection already.
I'm going to stick this for a while Leary so people get a chance to download the songs if they wish.
If your not into the dead that's fine but we really don't need to hear about it in this thread.....

LF- def appreciate this, but, it may be easier for you and the users of the site to upload a zip file of the tracks to a site like mega upload and provide the link. This way we can get all the tracks in one go, you don't have to make 329838219038 posts with files, and we can all enjoy the music in the end.
Just a suggestion, either way thanks for the music!

Maybe you should rar/zip the whole CD up and post that instead? Seems like it would be much easier to both download and upload.

Ripple: Thanks for the background info on the CD. It's good to know the history behind it. Thanks a lot for starting this series. It's a lot more special to me than "Dicks Picks".
Coda: I didn't upload it to megaupload because I want Shroomerites to have access to it in the future. I want to be able to link this thread for people 10 years from now and I can't count on any outside website to have it accessible for more than a week or two. This thread was started for posterity's sake. I'm thinking long term.

There certainly are still Dead fans here, bro. Stay tuned. "Shroomery Picks Vol. 4" is coming sometime in the near future. Ripple and I are brainstorming. We're going to need your help as well as the help of every other Dead fan on this board for this one. It will be the best edition of this series yet. Enough of that for now, but I thought I'd give you a head start.

Sounds great. I would highly recommend adding The Music Never Stopped from 5/7/77 Boston Gardens, it has so much energy and the solo is truly stellar. Actually that entire show is perfect, the Big River also stands out as an epic tune from that set.

Thank you for making this thread.
I remember when shroomery pics were going out. I sent ripple a stack of 10 cd-r's and he sent me the 3 Cd's of shroomery pics, volume 1-3.
But as time went on these cd's got scratched up. Maybe you can do the whole set?
I have this page bookmarked, thanks for doing individual songs rather than going to megaupload or some other site uploading the whole cd in one file, being stuck in the boonies i dont have high speed.

Sleepy, hold off on the suggestions for Vol. 4 for now dude. I'm going to make a thread for contributions for that edition and then when we have everyone's contribution, we'll make an official thread for it with all of the links in order, in the first post.

I did more poorly than I'd have wanted on an exam that I studied hard for this morning. Felt pretty down, especially considering the fact that it was for all the marbles, worth 100% of our grade (law school exams, you only get one shot).
Trudging to my car, I knew exactly what I needed... had my Shroomery Vol. 1 ready to go, fired up Franklin's Tower, and life was good again
thanks leary. great thread.
As for the shroomery vol 4 CD I humbly submit the following for consideration
http://www.archive.org/details/gd76-06-09.matrix.chappell.29323.sbeok.flac16 -St. Stephen (Eyes is good too)
http://www.archive.org/details/gd72-01-02.sbd.eD.8709.sbeok.shnf -Chinatown Shuffle -got a great Good love-Chinacat-Good love too, not to mention NFA-GDTRFB-NFA. All good. More pigpen!

That was the first Dead show I saw.. Now I'm a total Dead freak Between the cover bands, RatDog, JGB, and Phil + Friends, I've probably been to 50 shows since then!

I have a bad habit of using things lying around the house or my car for bookmarks. I remember 3 or 4 years ago I got a call from the library telling me that I had left a CD of some pictures in a book.
I couldn't figure out what they were talking about, and the librarian was like..."It says "Shroomery Pics" on it, but you don't think it was yours?
I said, "Oh! That one! Yes, its mine and I'll be in for it right away"
True story, that. I remember that you're the one who sent it to me, and that must be how you spelled it on the CD.
