My rent for a conveniently located 1-bedroom apartment is $545/mo. The economy's pretty good as far as I know. Doesn't have the high unemployment rate the Eugene has.

What are some average wages for jobs there? How much does it cost to buy houses? I assume it's WAY cheaper than CA.
Eugene seemed kind of meth-ish when I was there.

I've thought about this a lot recently. I like where I live, but the winters are long and BRUTALLY cold (gonna be -32 on saturday) and I love warm weather so much.
I love Canada and have no desire to leave, but I don't want to spend half my life in a snow covered city. I've thought about the west coast, but they just get so much cloud and gloom... that might depress me more.
If money were no object I think I'd end up in the south of France.

I want to live under the sea in a big bubble community with lots of sexy mermaids. And Poseiden with his big ass trident.

I worked at a warehouse job for a year that paid $10/hr, and others told me that that was pretty lame compared to similar jobs in the area(the corporate office in Florida seemed pretty out of touch with the way things work around here). I believe Oregon has one of the highest minimum wages in the country(something like $7.50).

Definitely cheaper than CA. I can't give you a good estimate, but here's what's on craigslist:

Unfortunately, meth is kind of a problem in Portland too, but you can avoid the tweakers if you stay away from certain parts of the city.

I'd move to Tennessee in a heartbeat if it didn't have such fucked up drug laws.
Or New Mexico.
Cincinnati winters are starting to irritate me, and our winters aren't even that bad.

BTW, this is what Portland looks like:

And did I mention that we have 28 microbreweries, more than any other city in the US? Also, several local movie theaters serve beer.

Believe it or not, I'm thinking somewhere in the Midwest. Perhaps a Cleveland, or Indianapolis.
