burned grains still worth using?

I burned up some grains by letting my PC run dry. For some reason I didn't think this was a big deal but I shot them up with LC and it doesn't look like the mycelium is liking the grains too much. There is colonization but not a lot of it and its not thick for the amount of time has been sitting there. These jars are taking up 12q in my incubator and 12 jars,I was wonder if I should replace them or if they are worth growing out as spawn? If they are no good can I use them to innocluate good sterilized grains at a rate of like 1:3 or lower?

Its not worth doing, honestly. Rehydrating or adding spawn can only give you back so much water & for the price of grains, and room they take up, just bite the bullet and start a new. It doesn't mean it wont work, but with a messed up water content you wont colonize as fast as you need to with grains before others start to set up camp.

Burnt grains won't colonize because of two things, when burnt it raises the overall p.h of that grain much higher then what mycelium can colonize, two, there is no moisture in it.
The overall P.H of your grain jar's is probably alot higher then anything favorable to mycelium growth and development since it was burnt and by burning it you would have lost quite abit of moisture from the jar.
Keep a eye out next time, good luck man.
I missed two of your questions, depending on how long you've had them sitting there, anywhere from 14-25 days they should be near 100% colonization. If they are colonized enough for you to remove large amounts of colonized grains I would do that, so you say you have 12 jars you'll end up with a bowl full of atleast 8, screen your grains very fully and lightly brush off the mycellium off any loose ones before busting it up. I do it alot with stalled jars and I need to free up space, has never been a issue.
The 1:3 ratio is what alot of people use, I personally prefer 1:2 for rye alone or 1:4 if its rye/millet. To little is better then to much when it comes to spawning to bulk, golden rule.

Yeah if these bags don't contam I will just pull out the good chunks and use those to spawn. I got a lot of material out of those jars, 10q. Do you guys ever have problems with walmart ovenbags tearing at the bottom seem? I think I might have dry cooked some stuff in my PC earlier and not realized it. The electrical tape holding the filter on the PVC was melted down. What is the general consensus of cooking bags?
