never was for me. but i was never that heavy of a weed smoker, even when i did smoke on a regular basis. but then again, i think i pretty much always got some case of the munchies going on. i remember one time at a gathering inebriated on multiple substances, trying to figure out which one was making me hungry. after a while, someone pointed out that maybe it was the fact that i havent eaten anything cept drugs in the past couple of days making me hungry. who would of thought...
speaking of which, im kinda hungry right now. im gonna go make a sammich.

i think it varies from person to person. i smoked every day for 10 years and i still got the munchies at least every other time i smoked. i could resist said munchies after many years of practice, but they never went away just because i had been smoking for a long time.

if im hungry, i eat. simple as that. maybe thats why i got this extra 30 lbs or so keeping me company. i spent way too many years of my life worrying about my weight on a daily basis (wrestling) to give a shit otherwise anymore. i wish i had better sandwich makings than bologna at the moment... but it will do.

It was really 2 years, one year probo break, then another year. And at this point, smoking a lot every day for the past year, I still get the munchies very badly.

i've been smoking for about 3 years now, i still get the munchies like mad. although, admittedly i'm not even close to being a daily smoker. takes me upwards of a month to get through an 8th of headies if i'm only smoking by myself. if i smoke with others that time shortens drastically, even if the person matches me bowl for bowl, simply because i smoke more in social situations.
w_az, after having had to regulate your weight so severely for so many years, does it not kill you to be carrying around excess body fat? I wrestled throughout middle school and high school as well, and i can hardly stand stepping on a scale anymore these days because i weigh like 40lbs more than i did senior year. it doesn't matter than i know i had an eating disorder and was being unhealthy, or that i know i'm not really fat now. but i constantly feel like i could really lose 10 or so lbs.
it also kills me that i've been too lazy/busy to exercise in months. i feel like a waste.

kill me? no, not really. there are often times though where it bothers me a bit, sure. i weighed 152 lbs my senior year in high school. but as far as my "average" weight went thats a bit unfair. i played foot ball as well. during football season my coaches were having me put on lbs, i would be 190-200 during football. then right after as wrestling season started, i would drop to 152. it was a pretty dramatic drop in such a short amount of time, and my body to this day hates me for every pound i cut.
but comming into the season there were four of us around the same weight that needed to make the varsity team. i always opted to drop the most as it seemed to drop off pretty easy for me.
i wrestled from 5th grade thorough highschool and into college for 2 years. highschool was the only time where the weight cutting was a real issue. i was wrestling in the 197 class in college, with an average of 7 lbs to spair.
im right around 230 at the moment, not too fat but i got a gut that could use some work. im happy for the most part, and i do not miss having to starve and dehydrate myself one bit. the cutting weight is the only thing i dont miss about my wrestling days. the rest of it was fun as shit, had a great time serving a well placed cross face to unsuspecting shooters.

i was 145 senior year. dropped from about 170 or so, but that's not nearly as dramatic as your seasonal loss. i didn't even entertain the thought of wrestling in college as i was so incredibly tired of starving myself and running in trashbags and 4 layers of clothing on a regular basis. not that i could've wrestled at unc anyways. i was decent, the best on my team at the time, but not quite good enough to compete at a respected collegiate level.
i miss it at times as well, but yeah.. definitely not enough to put myself through any of it again.

i've been smoking for 6 years now and i think the munchies relies now on if i'm hungry or not..
if i'm not hungry, but start to eat something then i get really hungry... almost like i have to activate the munchies.

even at the height of my "career" i was never really all that good. i held my own though, and not too many beat me easily. i took the regional tournament my senior year, choked at state all 4 years. the year i took region, the guy i beat in the semis ended up taking state. i was so pissed. when people wrestled me, weather i won or not, they sure as hell walked off that mat remembering my name. i was a tough son of a bitch. it was good times. i often mess around with the idea of getting my usa card and messing around is some of the freestyle tournaments around here. but im old, out of shape, and smoke way too damn much. the main thing i miss from those days was the will and dedication i had to hang in such a demanding sport.

yeah dude, definitely. i use to work so fucking hard! i can hardly believe i ever did it. I took second in regionals my junior year. Senior year i went in the number 1 seed and ranked somewhere in the top 10 of the state in my division, but i was really, really burned out, and as ashamed as i am to admit it, i threw my last match because i was really, really fucking sick of it.
i still remember it vividly. semi-finals against the 3rd seed. he was a sturdy little hoss. i'd heard really good things about him, like the fact that he PINNED this one guy from a nearby city (but different district) that had been the only guy to pin me my senior year, and one of two that pinned me my junior year. I was like "holy fuck... he PINNED _______????" I had never, ever heard of this guy being pinned. turns out it was a lucky shot. the guy was too cocky, tried to get fancy and got himself stuck in a bad position. since this 3rd seeder was such a strong little fucker, he was able to stick him.
so i go out there, expecting the worst, and i'm surprised and slightly disappointed. the guy was good, sure, but he wasn't nearly as good as i was expecting. really strong, but lacking much skill and finesse. i was actually winning by i think like 7 pts in the middle of the 2nd. it pissed me off because i was hoping that i could give it my all my last match, lose, and walk away knowing i had given it my all but not having to train for another 2-3 weeks for states.
but no. so i let him have a take-down and a couple of nearfalls. i tried to make it look convincing. stormed off afterwards, threw a bit of a fit. half for show, half because i was pissed at myself for what i'd just done. i definitely regret it. shoulda stuck it out to see if i could have placed in states. oh well. it's in the past.

I don't know man, I hardly ever smoke weed (maybe once or twice a month, on average) and I very rarely get the munchies. If I'm not around food, I don't think about it, but if I start to eat, I'm like a bottomless pit

i've been smoking for about four years. 3 years daily. i really enjoy smoking a hit or three right before -15 mins. before eating, because it allows me to eat a little bit more and appreciate the flavor more. but it really depends on the type of bud, ime. sativa buds do sometimes make me hungry, but indica usually don't.
but i usually just ignore them if they come anyways, although sometimes...

i like how we have semi-derailed this thread, havent talked wrestling in quite some time with anyone who actually knew what the hell i was talking about, let alone went through it. when i think back on my years as a wrestler, and the hell that was practice every day... and i look at myself now. wow.
we used to start practice with a 5 mile warm up jog around the local streets of our school. then is was straight into the tiny ass wrestling room which had the heater cranked to the max, stretch then start the drilling. after that we would have an hour of wrestling time, practicing getting in and out of common positions one would find themselves in during a match. then we would contition with windsprints, monkey rolls, etc for about a half hour. a 5 minute break for some water, then back into another set of drills, ending with another block of conditioning. and the push ups, oh god the push ups. im breaking a sweat just thinking about it now. so much blood, sweat and tears have been devoted to beating people up on the mats. ggod times indeed.
ok, im done with the wrestling talk... back to the munchies

take some advice from master p "green got me hungry, feindin' for them munchies cause real smokers dont blow no fuckin green on empty stomachs"
i learned this in high school so like at lunch break at work - eat lunch then get high.
usually my only exception is wake up then get high then eat breakfast.

I've been smoking pot for 11 years and I still get the munchies. But I came to figure out it wasn't so much the "munchies" as it was, I was just "hungry". So I would try to make it a point to eating my meal before getting stoned, or if I need something to munch on while baked.. I'll try for something healthy like a carrot and some yogurt or someshit. I just gotta stay away from the sweets.

i found that eating before getting stoned really helps as far as munchies are involved. you don't get them nearly as severe or even at all if you eat a decent meal or snack beforehand.
but, food tastes so much better when stoned.

I've smoked since I was 13 (I'm 24 now) and the munchies are rare unless I'm really hungry. Though, the beer munchies can't be contained.

If I were to pinpoint a nearly medical reason for me to smoke pot it would be because I sometimes just plain won't eat and not realize it if I'm not hungry. Like right now I'm sick and I didn't eat a damn thing yesterday and didn't realize it until last night, when I managed to smoke a little out of a bubbler (and still felt like my lungs were being torched by propane) just so I could get some food in me.
Now going back to the derailment, Wrestler you're so wrestling me at this year's gathering. You've got more background and some size on me but I'm in good shape, training martial arts every day and am leaning from an Olympic Greco-Roman teacher. It should be fun

I've been smoking for years and I don't get the munchies anymore, or don't get them as a need to eat anymore. That may just have come with experience with the herb.

Not munchies but if you smoke a lot for many years, when you don't smoke you don't eat. So i noticed.

munchies don't come as they used to, I used to fiend for food when I was stoned, got it really bad.
6 years later and I just fancy a chocolate bar but I can deal. MJ lowers your blood sugar regardless of how long you've been smoking.

Could it be that after eating more blood is sent to your stomach to aid in digestion?

Yeah that's the easiest way to tell that a smoker is new, there's so many things that change when you smoke a lot. Eating food will kill your high.. that's why you eat before you smoke! The worst thing you can do after smoking is eating, people who smoke and then eat have no idea how dumb they are.

Been smoking for 10 years. Started when I was 16, 26 now. I get the munchies to a certain extent but not as bad as when I first started smoking. When I first started smoking I could kill an entire bag of chips or eat a whole pizza. Not that I wanted to eat that much and unless I was high I would never eat that way. I just couldn't stop myself. Everything tasted so good. I still get the munchies but not an uncontrollable urge to eat. I tend to stick with fruit or some type of juice or tea now when I get the munchies. The fiber in the fruit makes you feel full longer and tea is good for you. I remember a few times when I was about 17 or 18 and I would gulp down a big ass fountain soda and promptly puke it out because I drank it so fast. So to answer your question you still get the munchies but not as bad. That's my experience at least.

that's not really true. my best friend still gets the munchies super bad (and she's been smoking almost as long as i have) and will eat after smoking. yes, it does diminish the high, but that's why you smoke more after you eat.
sometimes i would get WAY too high, to the point that it would make me extremely dizzy, the only thing that would fix that was eating, and THANK GOD for that because i HATE being that high.
so yeah, your statement isn't really true.

There's been times in my life I promise you can't fathom the amount of pot I was smoking. I will give you that eating certain foods can bring you down a bit, but eating in general does not 100% mean you're gonna start coming down off your high. Fruits and vegetables especially seem to give me extra energy and make me feel better about being stoned.

well sorry your friend is just crazy, it's a huge waste. I have never met a pothead that eats after smoking, that's definitely not a normal thing.. when you're high everyday food doesn't "taste so good" like it does at first.

For me, I rarely ever "got" the munchies, which is to say that weed didn't really made me hungry when I wasn't before. However, it did make food taste better when I did eat. It was like ecstasy for the taste buds.

Maybe you just don't notice? most people don't but it happens, even eating candy will start to make you come down.. when you smoke so much pot that you feel "normal" being high then you will be able to pinpoint when you start to come down.

I meant after, you might as well eat an eighth of mushrooms and then eat a pizza while you're coming up.

The craving for Munchies is definitely there still, but I don't absolutely need them. I've been trying to limit my food consumption when I'm baked so I don't expand to the size of a house.

yes, she is crazy. but she's got the resources to be able to do that if she feels like it. i agree that it is a waste, but it's her money and her pot, she can do what she likes with it.
and in my experience, EVERYTHING tastes better when stoned, no matter how long you've been smoking and indulging in the munchies.

Now going back to the derailment, Wrestler you're so wrestling me at this year's gathering. You've got more background and some size on me but I'm in good shape, training martial arts every day and am leaning from an Olympic Greco-Roman teacher. It should be fun
that would be fun. one year, i think it was 05, i was messed up out of my mind and for some reason wanted to wrestle somebody. i forget the name of the guy who actually gave it a shot. he was a quick little fucker, just kinda ran circles around me until i got tired and gave up. oh ya, and during the match i suffered a "pokey"...

but ya man, its on. afterwards you could show me a submission or two.
