Temperature Trouble

So I have a bit of a dilemma. I plan on using a closet for growing space since it's an enclosed area and out of way of nosey people but the house is not heated and stays around 60 degrees (I swear it feels colder). How would I go about maintaining an ideal temperature for the fungi in the enclosed area? Some heating device hooked up to a timer/thermometer type device? Is there such a thing affordably? I'll be using bags in-vitro so a submersible aquarium heater wouldn't do much help.

Ceramic space heater with a digital thermistat.
They go for $30-$40, home depot has one right now for 29 that a friend of mine told me kept a closet accurate to 1 degree. He was vary impressed.
They are pretty darn safe, since almost every model has thermal overload cut off, tip over protection ect.

I bought a Lasco ceramic heating unit with digital display that lets me set the temperature and it turns on whenever it gets too cold. it cost around $40.

Just to offer an option ... a nice TiT or two can work... I have an affinity for TiTs... They work well for fruiting chambers as well as incubators. Consistent heat and humidity, then just figure out the light source and FAE.

Those clamps that guy uses on the tank heater can be found in the electrical section of your local Home Improvement Labyrinth BTW... took me an hour of aimless wandering to figure that out.

hmm. if i were to submerge an aquarium heater in a container of water wouldnt the entire cotainer become a heater? im not talking about floating another container inside of it to incubate but rather just a tub full of heated water. does anybody know where i can find a timer device that shuts off/turns on at a certain temperature?

what you're kind of talking about is a heatbomb.. i think ohm is the creator.. could be wrong.. After reading this topic i realized i needed a heater too so i just walked to the hardware store and bought a 29 dollar ceramic oscillating space heater that automatically turns itself off based on the temp you set on the dial. My FC temp is at 80.2 right now.. so i know it working.. just gotta fidget with it a bit more.

well i still like that and its close but i think its just meant for small scale incubation heating. i need a solution for a space like an entire closet since the bags will just be sitting on shelves. humidity isnt a problem as they retain moisture fine by themselves. that tek says to find a bottle that doesnt leave much space between the heating rod and the bottle. i guess this kind of suggests that having extra space could be dangerous in some way. i was thinking more along the lines of using an aquarium heater in a regular rubber maid type sized container of water. probably something a bit smaller though. i suppose this should heat an area sufficiently but would it be a hazard?
