Time dilation

Everyone I know seems to wonder why stimulants make time go by slower and depressants make time go by faster.
My thoughts are, while you are stimulated, your brain processes things a lot faster. IE, when you are on LSD, mushrooms, or weed. Our perception of time is relative to how much information we process, or how our brain is functioning. Thus, LSD and mushrooms make time seem slower, when in fact, our brains have just sped up.
It seems so obvious, i know, but even in the movie requiem when mrs Goldfarb goes to get her medication refilled at the doctors, they speed it up, even though she was taking amphetamines.
Just thought I'd post about it because a lot of people I've been talking to lately have been mixed up about it.
If I'm wrong, please correct me on this one.

The brain does not produce consciousness. Think of our brains as a biological storage device that processes autonomic/sympathetic systems and a whole lot of other neurological processes, including time.
Our brains act like a filter; filtering out information that is considered "useless." Hallucinogens alter/change neurological functions that govern certain mental faculties--time being one of them.

Your explanation does seem fit
And ofcourse it does make sense, but this isnt necassarily the most accurate scenario of a trip. A trip seems like you are going faster and faster and faster until you hit that peak, at which point everything becomes singular (you merge with all matter, time/space no longer are relevent (or exist) )
If you want to go even DEEPER into the rabbit hole...
Well start reading about quantum physics, dimensions, and black holes.
I sorta am partial to the idea that tripping and being in a black hole are one in the same. All the information that is possible for existance (IE; your brain) gets PUSHED out of your sub-conscious into your reality (and inevitable condenses into one point), time and space = nothing, everything becomes a singular, vastly dense point in space (then BOOM)
well thats for one of them crazy trips...
