**URGENT** Take off pridomina before casing?
    #771577 - 07/23/02 08:50 PM (15 years, 10 months ago)

Hey gang,

The reason this is urgent is because im leaving for a rave in 2 hours and i want to case my last cake before i go. I was trying to fruit it as a cake until i realized that was a waist of time, casing all the way!!

Anyways it has grown new myceium and pridomina(sp) has formed, should i remove it before casing?

Thanks
Fd

EDIT: I forgot to ask, how do i remove them? They are much too small to be pulled off, can i just cut the new mycelium+pridomina off with a sterile knife?

this is where a lot of new ppl to cultivation make their first, and biggest error.
All primordia MUSt be removed, for it is the leading cause of rot (Aside of germs on your hands)

It is a good idea to incubate jars in total darkness, so as to avoid the pinning all together, your cakes will pin fine if they go in pre-primordia.
If however yo have the beginnings of shrooms, you can, with a razor blade (heated right before with a lighter is good ) scrape off the bodies.
I read some people just peel it with a knife when they are fruiting off cakes, doesnt seem to hurt it .
You can be rougher than first assumed with your cakes, if you are afraid to cut, i read scrubbin with a sift bristle toothbrush works as well.
Next time, try growing a few jars in the dark, you'll be surprised at how good they grow without all the mess.
Good Luck
