Ok what I want to do is grow some seeds then get the females and set them up as mother plants (24 hour light) and then make clones and plant them in secluded areas around my suburb. My question is how do I find out which of the seed grown plants are female?

I know you can put the seedlings into a flowering state but then they need to revert back into a vegetative state. I was asking if there is another way to find out if they are female.

the way i usually do it is grow them out for a few months and change the light cycle to flowering just long enough to see a few white hairs or a set of balls growing, then scrap the males put the females back in to veg lighting and once growing in veg again clone, clone and clone some more
now after you go through this lengthy process keep a clone, it will be a female and you can clone any time you want.
good luck

grow the plants out a bit, then cover a branch so it recieves only 12 hours of light each day. that way u can positively identify sex without the need to put the entire plant into flower.
personally i used to give all the plants an individual number and take 2 clones from each plant in the vegatitive stage, then put the mothers/fathers into flower... when u know which sex are which, kill the male clones and keep the females.

you dont want to do that because if you induce flowering and then take it out you have a higher risk of creating hermie plants

Just take a cutting from each plant, label each and stick it in a glass of water and into a 12/12 light cycle. Even without roots they will show sex and you will know which is male and which is female.

at about the fourth week of vegetation, or when the plant is about 6 to 8 weeks old, it starts to grow pre-flowers. this is what tells you sex. pre-flowers start at about the 4th node up from the bottom. look for a small female flower with 2 white fuzzy pistils coming out, this is a female plant, a male will grow pollen sacks that look like little balls hanging off a tiny branch. a small magnifying glass with a built in light works wonders. once you determine sex you can induce flowering with 12/12 lighting if growing indoors, if outdoors, pre-flowering stage only lasts about 2 weeks so pay attention and separate males from females

There are numerous resources for cannabis cultivation on the net. I would suggest you do some research because there is a world of information out there that could not possibly be compressed into a forum comment. Type in Jorge Cervantes into google and you are on your way.. Peace!!!
