I loathe my memory

It seems like I can't retain anything, or rather, I can't recall anything of my own free will, I always require some sort of trigger
Anyone know of any memory games that will help my memory in general?

Memory, in my experience, seems to have a lot to do with awareness, so...what are you trying to remember? Just day to day things? Events throughout your life? Happenings with friends? School related items? Or are you talking about forgetting the one thing that you went to the store to get? cuz I need to figure that one out too!
Along with awareness comes interest...more likely before awareness though. Interest isn't the right word since it's more of a "push" toward what you are trying to be aware of - it is the emotional engine which makes your memories come to life.

Will & intention
But yeah, it also matters what you want to remember. We usually remember the things that matter to us. So you could try to become interested, enthusiastic about the related subject.

Ginkgo biloba... but that takes a while to start working
How long do you sleep, and at what time of the day?
What kinds of foods do you eat?

Yes, I have noticed I retain the things I enjoy far more easily
I usually sleep at midnight and get a good 6.5/7 hours in
As for foods, they really vary, depends on cafeteria, but I always eat at least 1 apple, 1 banana, and a lot of water, heavily cutting down on sweets too

I'm the same way, coincidentally.
I cannot remember ANYTHING.
But I've learned to cope with this by taking copius notes. I write down everything.
Organizing my notes is another challenge.

Are there things that you need to be able to randomly remember?

I think that better than any vitamins and other stuff like that is using your intention, reminding yourself every moment that you can focus, that you want to focus, and that you need to focus in order to make your life more accessible and organized.

I'm in the same boat. I can't remember shit without having to write it down. I have tried everything from herbal remedies to professional consultation with my doctor to no avail. Once I figure out what my problem is, I'll let you know.

Six? It seems like a lifetime, or at least a main era - -the kind of peak that never comes again. San Francisco in the middle sixties was a very special time and place to be a part of. Maybe it meant something. Maybe not, in the long run, but no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world. Whatever it meant." Hunter S. Thompson.

i have a hard time remembering any specific dates or even a timeline. my memory is sorta split into different "eras" in which i can remember most stuff but not in any order they came in.checked some of my memories with my mother, and turns out i have memories from when i was younger than 4.
in general my memory seem to rely on an image or a word that sparks the whole memory. never really had a problem with memory myself but my dad always did, and has tried to push a book called mind mapping onto me a few times, maybe have a search round the net for that?
