Soaking block and fruiting at same time?

Well im in the process of doing this but thought i would double check before I ruin my shitake block.
Basicly i had a block cold shocking for about 2 months (forgot about it).
So i finally take it out, figuer its prob thursty, see nice popcorning, and decide to just soak the thing in my fruiting chamber
so here it sits 24 hours later, and as i approach the 2nd day I fear im entering the point of no return.
has anyone tried fruiting a block floating in water? I know it will get water logged and fall apart if left in their 2 long, I just don't know how long it will take for that to happen.
aka could I get the first flush and then remove from the water?

Hi makaveli, why soak more than 24 hours?
However a block doesn't float on water, it rolls on itself! An mushrooms born in water are not tasty and not beautiful. They are like spoonge that sucks water.

I was just going to experment to see if i would get bigger mushrooms.
the pins are above the water so i don't anticpate them turning soggy, just the block beneath them, i may be wrong however.
thats a good point about the mushroom taste i never thought about that

For clarifcation my block is floating in a bucket of water in my fruiting chamber, one side above the water the other side below the water.
An interesting update:
Ive noticed the popcorn/pins increase in size over the last few days as expected.
What i didn't expect when I took the block out of the bucket was to find a pin! the cap was brownish/black. The cap is about the size of a dime at the moment.
So I really think im onto something here, this could be a great way to get pins faster. I think the advantage to this is that its open to fresh air during the soak, open to light, and open to other fruiting conditions while being supplied with all the water it would ever want.
This is just the first attempt so results may be flawed.
I decided to take it out of the bucket and fruit normally now. The underside was a little spongy but the block still felt very solid overall. I was afraid the pin under the water would abort as thats what common knowledge would tell me,
however since the pin was born under water I think it might have adapted, another experiment for another time....as i have a meal planned that needs some shiitake
