H2O2 Erradicates lipstick mold!
    #7712803 - 12/03/07 08:41 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

All right, specs; PF tek followed to a cent that took time to begin growing but got under way fine after a week. Was seeing good colonization until i noticed some red crumb sized specs; i knew after a day when they grew very minutely that they were definitely lipstick (and gazing at the horrible pictures here). So i decided to throw out 3 of the jars i was using (yeah, talk about luck eh? I was extremely sterile in procedure down to the syringe and all but i found to get water to the spores i had to open a lid which could have allowed for contaminants.)

That left me with 2 good sized jars (jar sized varied from 3 to 9 pints, don't ask how). One had the lip stick marks in 2 general areas, but instead of going by what is deemed the proper disposal by all shroomers, i experimented and absolutely soaked the entire area with H2O2. Now 2 weeks later there is no sign of lip stick mold and the jar is filling out nicely with white, almost creme as i like to think of it, mycelium. I will try and get pictures of their present condition, however a camera has seemed ironically elusive.

Will keep posted if possible. I would not recommend this H2O2 remedy until further experimentation has been conducted though, i may have just had some weird luck, but the mold (red mold at least) is completely gone. Idk if it changed but its gone!

It wasn't the peroxide. Geotrichum isn't agressive, and cubensis mycelium often overtakes it. If the jars finish, you can fruit them as cakes, but the spores are still there, so I wouldn't use them for spawning bulk substrates.
