Issues abound!

So, after a successful run through earlier this year the roommate and I decided to try our hand at grain/monotub and have had no luck since.
The failure of the monotubs, I think are pretty simple. Our original sheepmanure/coir mix was just far too damp and so the mycellium didn't colonize it before it got contaminated. It was doing well, up to that point.
The second tub we have tried, looks to be infected with cobweb. (Greyish white growth, going from top down) it's under observation but I personally think its a goner.
They're both done is very sterile environments, but sans some form of filter, so I know that's probably the source of all our issues.
So, we've decided to go back to simply casing grains and using a greenhouse we have lying around. Which brings me to my question. Due to some rearranging in our house, the room we originally used is no longer available. (cement floors, isolated, really good room actually) Instead we have to use another room that has a carpet.
Will this be a huge issue? Assuming we keep the trays on the top rack, will our chance of contamination be extremely high compared to a bare room, or will it be doable? And if the chance is increased, any feasible way of minimizing it?
Thanks all!

you can either vacuum the shit out of the carpet and run with it,
or
pull it up
or
put something down over it, like thick plastic painter's poly, or a vinyl flooring material that is less porous and easier to clean.

Yeah, ripping it up isn't exactly an option. the drop sheet was going to be our secondary option. Any idea how big of an area? Just the immediate around around the greenhouse, or a good couple feet on each side?

if you can afford to, I'd do the whole damn room, but you would probably be just as successful if you merely just clean the living shit out of the place before you get started.

Well, it's my roommate's bedroom, so I don't think drop sheeting the entire room is going to work so well. :p

I heard attics are generally a horrible horrible idea? We do have one, but it's not really easy to access and I'm not entirely sure how big it is. But not really a feasible option.
