Salvia thoughts...
    #7710585 - 12/03/07 12:08 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I just smoked some salvia in my backyard out of my pipe by myself and i would call it a success.

It has never worked like this before.
I took a second hit and suddenly I was aware of something deeper going on around me. A voice (my conciousness maybe) was telling me that this is not the way. I was looking at a wall and it seemed to be telling me that it was not the way, although I saw it in a different light. The walls were my focus it seemed as though they were stacking over eachother and each one was a different level in a pyramid sort of.

I dont think there were any changes to my visual perception but it did seem like I was kind of out of my body for a little, but Still in my back yard.

The first time i've ever actually contacted the voice that is salvia.. It was weird especially the uncomfortable tension in my body. It felt sort of like my body was holding me back from going to somewhere else...

Anyone want to shed some light on this, the part with the wall was pretty damn confusing but it was the keystone that led me to believe I was tripping. It was definately a trip but a weird little one. I felt like I got up too soon, but the trip was definately over after less than a minute.

I had a similar experience a few weeks ago.
I was nearing the end of my mushy peak and feeling courageous, I decided to bust out the salvia.
I smoked a little bit of it on my bong rip and walked outside after a couple minutes.
There was this voice in my head that kept repeating... "look over here. hey, look over here. just look over here"... over and over again.
It was "located" behind and to the left of my head (or aural space).
I also had the looping music thing going on in my head.
Sally took 5 tones from the song i had just been listening to and she warped and twisted it inside my head for at least 10 or 15 minutes.

Weird stuff. My most favoritist sally experience to date.

Yup, it works in strange ways.

It's just not very clear what happened. I don't have a very clear memory, I can't imagine what a higher dose would be like.

I've just been treading the waters a bit. Is it normal to get a poor memory of what is happening on a small dose?

Salvia has put me in more "detached" mental states than any other substance I've tried... so yes it's possible.
I'm scared to really pack the bowl to the brim with that 20x stuff.

some of my small doses have had me on the floor
thinking I was absorbed by the floor material
unable to extricate myself
in pain and
immediately afterwards I brushed myself off and acted completely normal.
I love it.
usually I keep my dose lower than the point of being sucked into surrounding matter.
however it is all very interesting - especially when layers and stacking becomes apparent.

Hmm can you elaborate more on what you mean by layers and stacking?

That seems to be what the experience was if i'm understanding you right. I was looking at the wall and it seemed to drag on, Like more and more walls were appearing and "stacking" Yet it wasn't very visual, more of just a feeling of a pattern of walls..

I limited expenrience with salvia but I too feel that what happends isn't very clear, and I'm left with a 'WTF was that' mind state. I really want to pick up some extract soon.

in my opinion, this effect, which is fundamental to all psychedelics, is something that can be observed, and when observing it is the point of focus or main mental activity, it sustains the observer like a refuge as well as being most interesting. (i.e. it is far better than resisting or praying for relief!)

this effect, the stacking of mental frames, occurs because signals that usually fade in the brain within a 15th of a second have a longer attenuation period. Signals in the brain producing images and memory activations persist, sometimes as long as 3 seconds after stimulus.

rather than quickly arising and passing away, they keep coming in and stacking up before passing away.

because of this primary psychedelic effect, arrays of vision occur, if you turn your head it will seem as if you can see behind yourself; body image and touch sense will compound and magnify the sense of pressure and gravity; persistent ideation will become thought loops; and one's entire reaction context can stack up as well which seems like more than one ego is resident in mind.

multiple self presence is an uncanny thing that I have experienced many times on salvia, but it is just an extension of the basic stacking effect following persisting signals in the brain, all due to slower fading.

Wow that seems to explain well what happened. Thanks redgreenvines.

I was starring at a wall one moment, and the next moment when I was looking away it was still the wall I was seeing and thinking about.

what if i don't move or look at anything at all? some of the most profound experiences i've had involve no movement at all, other than putting the pipe down. eyes closed even before starting to inhale, and according to my friends no movement at all after putting down the pipe. from what i remember this are the experiences in which the visions are more vivid and the visuals more detailed.
