I love having a day off on a weekday

I had to work Saturday from like 3 to 11 and so Sunday was really my Saturday and today, Monday, is really my Sunday. Having a day off on a Monday is great, especially in a quiet neighborhood like mine. On the weekend everyone hits the avenues with the little stores and coffeeshops and tea lounges and it gets a bit crowded but on a day like today there's no one around because they're all at work. Taking a walk on a day like this (Even when it's blustery as fuck out!) is just too nice. I'm gonna have to go get stoned in the park soon.

I didn't have today off, but I didn't go in. I called and said I was sick.

It snowed here late Saturday night. I went to bed Saturday night at around 5:30 and didn't notice the snow, woke up Sunday at 1 in the afternoon with that childlike feeling in my soul when I looked out and saw the ground covered with a thin layer of snow, hearkening back to long lost snow days...when the powers-that-were told you you were free for a day. So nice.
I hope this is a seriously snowy winter. Nothing like LSD in the snow.

I never knew the fun in making a snow angel until a blizzard shut down NYC in the winter of 2002. It was my third and fourth times taking LSD, in the span of two weekends. The first weekend was the one where the snow first hit and cars were forbidden to drive in the island of Manhattan. My friends and I just ran around like crazy in the snow. It was so deep that it covered the steps leading up to Union Square Park, the handrail of the steps was slightly peeking over the rim of the snow, so you felt like you were standing so high up. It was magical, laying in the middle of Broadway and making a snow angel while looking up at the snow whirling around in the sea of light cast down by the various billboards and skyscrapers.

That sounds like a hell of a time.
I hate when I get weekend days off. Everyone has days off on the weekend so it hardly feels special.

We got the first real big snow of the year on Saturday, but then yesterday was warm as hell.
So it all half melted, turned to slush, and got all dirty.
Now its like, 5 degrees today and so its all frozen back into a pile of disgustingly black and brown snow.
It wa beautiful, but now its just kind of icky.

Cubs should be active in winter meetings, I hear they're gonna be shopping Prior as well as Marquis.

Bah, I don't think there's much of a chance of anything happening.
There are alot of teams out there this year that have desperate needs and are willing to give up top-flight talent to get it.
When you have teams offering up first-line studs in trade talks, putting Jason Marquis and Will Ohman on the block doesn't get you the rapt attention of eager buyers.
And as a jaded Cubs fan, I'd rather keep Prior. Lord knows that we've put enough time/money in him. If the relationship between him and management is not irrevocably damaged, I'd rather keep him and see if he is finally healthy.
I'd hate to see him revert to his 2003 form with another team.

Day off because of rain?
From school?
That is nuts.

When it rains so much the roads are all flooded and the teachers can't get to school. It's nuts, there's so much water on the ground right now
