Spores Hydration... What's the true?!?!
    #7709744 - 12/03/07 06:26 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I’ve read that after putting spores and water into a syringe, two days at least are needed for spores hydration before I can use them. Is It true? Can I use them immediately?

Somebody asked this asked this last week. While the teks suggest leaving them for at least 12 hours (i thin) to rydrate,

Im sure RR says that you can use right away.

I’ve used a syringe made from a three year old print right away and it worked fine.

The spores shouldn’t have any trouble re-hydrating in the substrate.

Best of luck.

Allowing the spores to rehydrate can give you a SLIGHTLY higher chance of success, because (theoretically) they're ready to germinate as soon as they land on the substrate.

If your jar is sterile, the rehydration time is really not necessary. A 12 hour difference should not be the deciding factor on whether the jar fails or succeeds - if it is, you have done something wrong during preparation.

When making a syringe I always use right away in my lc's and notice no differece from when used to order them trhough the mail( for they sat in the syringe for at least three days).
