I know there are a lot of Floyd fans here, but has anyone else listened to much of David Gilmour's solo albums? I was a bit skeptical at first as most solo albums suck, but his shit is really good. Just like to hear some other people's input on his work.

The day Gilmore released On an Island the local classic rock station played the whole album back to back. I immediately went and bought it after I got off work.  I absolutely love that album. "Take a breath" is a great song to listen to while you're peaking :crazy2:

I'd love to see him in concert sometime soon, his group now is pretty amazing. Rick Wright the original Pink floyd keyboard and organ player is still with them.

I could never bring myself to go see roger on one of his tours. Something about hearing dark side without at least Gilmore would kill it. Im sure its awesome but, idono. I'm not crazy about rogers voice to be honest.

Along with being a huge Floydian I like all the solo work of Gilmour, Waters, and Wright. On an Island is my favorite of Gilmours but About Face is pretty cool too.

Sorry to double post but; you missed an awesome show man, I saw Roger back in July and it really blew me away. His singing voice was excellent too, compared to the shakiness he had during the beginning of his touring.

I saw David's 'on an island' tour. I thought the album itself was damn good. It really reminds you how much of the magic he brought to floyd.

I also saw roger waters last couple tours. Rogers show was out of fucking control. Reminded me how fucking crazy you can get with stage effects. He also had full surround sound going...which I've never heard to that extent at a live show before. Sounds would come BLASTING from behind me. Rockets would fire from the right, pan across and explode to the far left. It really was fucking amazing.

NOW, David Gilmours show, and I'm not really sure how, topped Rogers. First off, the light/lasers were probably the most intense I've ever experienced in live music... It had me disoriented a few times. (in a very good way!) The music itself was just played much better. With Rick Wright on keyboards and David on guitar, it captured the true spirit of floyd (at least for me). They also played a set list I enjoyed more. (Echoes probably being my favorite one.) They just had this positive energy about them that made the show just perfect.

I'm very skeptical

I don't liek his persona or the direction he steered PF post Waters era, but I spose I'll give him a whirl when I can

I like On an Island, and am a big fan of Dave Gilmour. I haven't listened to About Face yet, though. I'll have to give it a go.

Good album, you should check out his self-titled album as well.
