coir question

Ok, i have 4 half pint South African brf cakes that I crumbled and mixed with half a brick of coir. I broke the cakes up and mixed them in about 5 days ago. The colonization is comming ncely, but in chunks. The top of the coir has a bunch of golf ball size clumps of mycileum in it.
I know that you need to have a good flat surface to get a good pinset from the myc. I am planning on turning the container that I am spawning the South Africans in into a monotub. Could I just break up the clumps and grently smooth it out with my sterile hands?
what should my next move be? Should I use a monotub or take the colonized coir and put it into trays? what works best for getting the most weight out of your coir?
I read that you can expect to get a yeild of as much wet mushrooms as your colonized substrate weighs, is this true? If it is then it's fair to assume that 1 col, onized pound of coir will produce 16oz of wet muchrooms, which would dry to 1.6oz? Is that a correct estimate?

So what you're attempting to do is Super spawn your bulk coir to more in a bigger monotub...
?
If I understood this correctly, yes it would work if you don't over do it on the coir after the re-spawn/superspawn, mycellium will degenerate over to many transfers to colonize larger substrate but it does work, just don't over stress it.
Murphey's law is for every two lb's of bulk you get 1oz of mushrooms, mushrooms loose 92% of their water so your left with 8% dry matter, 120g's wet is useally 16g's dry for me.... so who really knows.
Back when I did 5lb's of straw/hpoo with a litre of rye/millet I pulled 2.5oz dry so I guess murphey's law does applie

ok. well I haven't weighed mine yet but its around 5 lbs. I wasn't planning on spawning the colonized coir to even more coir though. I will just fruit once the plastic bin i got colonizes.
I just wanted to know if i could stickl my hands in there and crumble the chunks of mycileum a bit to flatten teh coir out a little.

Yea, if its fully colonized it wont be a problem.
You might want to consider breaking up your colonized sub and spawning that to coffee grinds, coir is great for its ability to retain water and add some nutrients but alone I didn't like the results compared to when it's mixed in with coffee grinds/hpoo.... Just some advise you might want to look into

you want to use spent coffee grounds.
Visit your local starbucks (they give em out for free for use in your garden) or ask at a local coffee shop for the grounds (again, you want em for your compost pile).
Or, if you drink coffee, start saving them.

In my experience, I mix coffee grounds by volume, (not weight). I use 2 cups coffee to 10 cups substrate. Also, if your coir is fully colonized, don't mess with it. Why would you risk putting stress on the mycelium? That energy is better spent on producing fruits, not repairing itself. (I say this because I have screwed up doing that). That's just my .02
