After drying them CRACKER DRY as quickly as possible without using excessive heat, put hem in a ziplock freezer bag and suck out the excess air (so they're vacuum packed) then repeat that process, then store in the freezer.
They'll last over 6 years without a loss of potency.
IME of course!!!

Maybe nothing, maybe everything, I only know what works. I ate some 6 year old ones last Saturday night (5.5 grams) and had the best trip of my life.

Its no rocket science when it comes to storing them. You just make sure they are as dry as possible "Cracker Dry"...and then put them in a nicely sealed ziplockbag.

Ziploc bags are not completely air tight and can let air and moisture in, so no matter how dry you get them, they can absorb moisture and possibly become less potent or even rot. sigh how sad that would be.

Well heres a good idea, get a zip lock bag and another one that is small enough to fit in the big one. Put some dessicant in the small zip lock and put it standing up-right in the bigger ziplock. Then put your cracker dry mushrooms in the bigger zip-lock. That way when moisture seeps in the dessicant will get rid of it!

Don`t you people read the faqs???? It clearly states, "DO NOT PUT YOUR SHROOMS IN THE FREEZER" The exsessive cold destroys the cell walls so that when you defrost them they degrade. Rather just put them in the fridge.

I beleive that statement only applies to fresh shrooms as they are full of water and when you put them in the freezer the water will expand, therefore rupturing the cell walls and when defrosted you basically end up with a slushie. Dried shrooms store very will in the freezer as long as they are in some sort of air tight container.

This is mostly a rehash of what has already been posted. You want the mushrooms as dry as possible as quickly as possible to prevent them from being eaten by bacteria and other fungi. I've read that fan drying them for 24-48 hours is good to partially dry them. Then place them into an airtight container with dessicant for another 72 hours to get them completely dry to the point where if you bend a "stem" it will break cleanly and not bend. Make sure they don't touch the dessicant or they will absorb some of it, taste like shit, and not completely dry out. Moisture absorbed after drying can cause them to rot too, so prevent this by placing in an airtight container. Unless you're storing them for a long time (i.e months, years) I don't think it's necessary to put dessicant in with them or keep them in the freezer. As far as storing is concerned, heat, light, and oxygen are the enemies conspiring to destroy your precious psylocy(bi)n. The energy they impart breaks down these chemicals (especially psylocyn) and weakens your mushshrooms. So expose them to as little of these as possible and your fungi should remain potent and fresh for a long time. Also, bruising, cutting, and grinding the mushrooms seem to be bad ideas. It breaks open the cells and exposes psylocy(bi)n to more oxygen. The blue color that is a hallmark of most psychedellic mushrooms is from the oxidation of psylocy(bi)n. While this is a good indicator that the mushrooms are potent and entheogenic, it also means that they have lost some potency. If you had an unlimited buget you could freeze dry them, vacuum pack them, and store them in a dry nitrogen atmoshere. But if you had all that money and equipment you probably wouldn't need our help. I'm not really sure why it would be necessary to store them for more than a year. Couldn't you just grow more if you've already grown them once? That's just a fools opinion.
-------------------- Say, can I have some of your purple berries? Yes, I've been eating them, for six or seven weeks now, haven't got sick once.

I guess the best way to do this is to read the grow faq in the shroomery. go to the part about drying and preservation.go here follow the instructions. modify as follows. .......now this is what i gathered from reading things in this forum from other people. fan dry them for.... i dont know a day or some S!@# i cant remember how long people were saying to keep the fan on them. I think this will pre dry them before going into the dry chamer. its a good idea to bake your dampRid or whatever your going to use in the oven at 400 degrees for a half hour or so. this will ensure that there is no moisture in the damprid before using. otherwise the drying power is thwarted to start. so after you pre fan dry them and put them in your dry chamber stick them in the frig..not the freezer. PF says that for the best alkaloid preservation store your dry chamber in the refigerator at near freezing temperatures.....Not freezing temperatures. ive never done this or seen results about it. but I would like to think PF knows what hes talking about.
