Has anybody had contam issues with reused jars?

A friend of a friend recently used a print to make a syringe. It seems the jars have contam. They also created some agar dishes, they seem fine( they haven't smelled them yet, but growth is white and looks good.). The jars where reused but washed. she has never re-used jars. Just wondering if there anybody else had re-used jars issues. The strain is hispanica.

I hope you didn't just wash them. I'd do a whole PC sterilization again, just to be safe.

I did of course PC the jars with substrate. I didn't PC them empty. Should I have to clean them?

I have had issues when reusing jars, especially if they had been contaminated in prior use, I'v pc'ed to steri but it still kept happening, it wasnt mold issues it was always a nasty bacteria. Im not a mycologist so can't say for sure what it was, but I believe the source of my problems were in the lids!

Never reuse lids? The only time you'll catch me replacing lids is when they have rusted to the point of not sealing properly, or if they simply fall apart and I can no longer recognize them as being lids. Nasties aren't going to be able to survive the pressure cooker much better on the lids than on the glass...

its not the jars. I reuse jars and lids and I dont throughly clean the unless the jar was contamed.
What happen to you was then syringe was dirty. The spores were probably clean enough but either you didnt boil the syringe/water long enough or you method of getting the spores to teh syringe was bed.
Here is what yoy do next time. Boil the syringe for 5 mins, then suck in that hot water and boil for another 5, then squirt out that water and suck some more in and let it cool off with the needle upwards. Once cool you get a sammich bag and scrape some spores off into there, now put the syringe needle in there a squirt a lil water and mix up the spores and suck it back up. This should be done without holding the bag wide open. it is very easy to make clean syringe from clean prints without a lab setting

Thanks Tahoe! I used the boil method for the syringe. But used the shot glass method for the spores transfer. I will try the sandwich bag tek. Should I use a method to clean bag or just use a new bag and should be ok? Could I pc the syringe for reassurance? it is plastic body, I would wrap in foil.
