Grounding yourself

What are some tips to ground yourself after an intense yoga, psychedelic or meditation session? I did some powerful yoga today (really put my all into it) and was left extremely unbalanced afterwards instead of the usual goodness. I was all over the map emotionally, spazzing out, and usually I feel incredibly calm and centered after my yoga. This time, I felt like something went wrong. The only thing I can think of is that I didn't ground myself appropriately afterwards.
Tips? Bodily positions or mantras that may help? I was thinking it might help to go straight into a relaxing meditation after yoga and that might help, but what do people recommend here?

I don't have a lot of experience with being in an uncomfortable state after yoga, but just lying on your back and doing deep breathing, or sitting there doing nothing following your breath, seems like the best thing. A glass of water could be awfully good too.

My recommendation would be to not practise as intensely as you did today. Try a different type of Yoga. I assume you were practicing Hatha Yoga? try Karma yoga, or Bhakti yoga. One that isn't so practice oriented, because you are in a perpetual state of practice. Instead of being so intense over a small amount of time, it is less intense all of the time. There is no need to rush things. Recall the story of Icarus flying to close to the sun before his "technology" was ready. I've been there and done that. Gained a lot from it. Suffered a lot from it, needlessly.

And I have a dog named Icarus, heh.

I may look into Bhakti actually, or a different form of yoga. I actually feel like Kundalini is too intense for me some days, but I've been noticing such benefits throughout my life that I've kept it up. And even when I'm not doing it, I'm thinking about it and feeling drawn to it. Before that, I was doing Vinyasa yoga and while it was nice, it just wasn't "doing it" for me, you know?
I will probably continue Kundalini even if I experiment with Bhakti, just to see which works best with my system. And of course there is always Hatha to consider, which I've never tried.

Oh, and I'm reading the Bhagavad Gita right now. It does mention Bhakti yoga as I recall, so maybe that's a sign.

I like to sit with my back to a large tree and visualize our Auras merging and breathing energy downward from the leaves to the roots.
And the same thing while laying on a large rock...

if you're going to be focusing on something other than stretching while doing yoga, my advice is get your mind relaxed and centered first, then do the yoga.
in other words you want to carve the proper channel for the energy, then work at getting it to flow, rather than trying to raise and control the energy at the same time, or raising the energy and THEN trying to control it.

Just visualize two grounding cords going from your root chakra down into the center of the earth. One draws energy up, while the other brings energy down. Now picture light coming down through your crown chakra down into your root chakra. If you don't feel grounded by then, repeat as many times as necessary. Also, foods that are rich in protein are good for grounding.

For post-yoga grounding, I wouldn't recommend meditation... because it is too similar to yoga. It is a body/mind/spiritual exercise. To oversimplify... Meditation is: minimalist yoga.
As an actor, being grounded helps me to both get into roles... and get out of them. But what is being grounded?
To me being GROUNDED is being ROOTED in reality.
The lessons I learn in the REAL world are the lessons I can teach. What I learn in the spiritual world is mine, and mine alone.
To ground yourself... watch a sunset... go for a walk... stand barefoot in your yard, or in a park on a warm day. Do something simple and fun. Take yourself out on a date.
Check in. Or, "Tune in" if you prefer.
When you're yang-ing, don't forget to yin... and when you're yin-ing... don't forget to yang.
If you drop out all the time, you'll miss the forest for the trees.

shock yourself with a few volts works, then touch iron/magnetized sh.
people are either positive or negative ions, or grounded. you can feel them, being neutral is a blast though cause youve got 2 different groups pissy.
