If I read it right , they actually want to use firemen to go in the houses of those who have been denounced for having anti-american opinions , since firemen don't need warrants to enter homes. That's a pretty horrible law right there... might as well just knock down the walls and have everyone know what you're doing...

It doesn't matter what the reason for using them is, fireman are great people and are about to be used like some fucking toy for the government, these people put their lives on the line every time they do their job. So heres to the firemen who refuse to participate

Though i have no problem with the patriot act, this is going to far. I can understand a firefighter conducting a routine fire inspection and stumbling upon somthing, but using them to root out "discontent" is just ridiculous. Thats pretty low.
also, to the guys making the sacrifices.

The fourth amendment doesn't make any wording specific to law enforcement:
Quote:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
By training non-LEO types to do searches, I would think they would be restricted by the 4th the same as any LEO types would be. This would be an interesting one to watch in the courts. In my mind, the act of training turns them from a passive observer into an active searcher.

Thats the first time I've heard that, the only people that seem to agree with the patriot act are the people who bought into the Americana commercialism that followed the 9/11 attacks. The way i see it if your dumb enough to vote your dumb enough to believe them.

It's more than that, even.
This will never happen.
Training or not, sending anybody into a home for the purpose of any kind of search.. well that qualifies as a search. Trained or no, LEO or no, a search is a search and the 4th amendment protects us from unreasonable searches (not as much as it should these days.. find me one example of somebody hiding something UP THEIR ASS on a plane that was a threat to that plane, the passangers, or national security..)
So if the police can't enter your house to search it without a warrant or without some sort of suspicion (if they walk by and see in through the window and notice you've an elderly couple crucified on the wall and a meth lab bubbling over they really don't need a warrant).. then nobody else can enter your home for a search. EMS can enter, sure, but they're just looking for someone who needs medical attention.. and fire fighters can enter when your house is, you know.. on fire. I don't think fire fighters can enter on a whim, to be honest. To do a fire safety inspection? Maybe. Maybe in an apartment.. but I really doubt they'd be breaking doors or forcing entry to do that.

I might put a little more faith in the reportage and description of what is being done if it didn't come from a Limey newspaper via Crooks and Liars, a notorious moonbat watershed.

first of all, don't speak to me with your ridiculous ideas. second, read an english book and third, i never said that i agree with the patriot act, i simply said i had no problem with it. it hasn't affected my life in any way.
and if this is the first time you've heard anyone say that they don't mind the patriot act, then how can you possibly make a judgment about all the many people who have no problem with it?
and i agree with what zap said. i really don't give crooks and liars much credit. and even if it is true, i doubt that it will be long before this shows up in the courts, where the idea will be torn down by the government hating people of america.
