Having court give me back my driver's liscense?

So I lost my license a year or two ago over some stupid bullshit over unpaid fines not related to any kind of moving violation.....
Fast forward to now, I need a license for a HVAC construction job most likely unless I get lucky. I haven't paid attention to this be prob b/c I'm stupid as fuck and I just plain can't fork over the upwards of $1000 they are asking for.
Basically my question is when I go to court and get on some kind of payment plan is there any way to get my license back solely for work cuz i don't think I'll get it back until i pay all my fines (or will I?). I've heard about this happening but am unsure of what to expect...anybody know?

ask to see a judge, then ask the judge what you just asked us.
last week sometime, i asked the judge to reduce a $160 fine & she reduced it to $100

That is reassuring to hear

usually judges are compromising if you provide them with sufficient enough evidence or cause to show that you're trying to benefit & reestablish your life.

Yes, definitely ask the judge. Unless your driving record is really bad, he/she should let you have it back for work.

also, i suggest you call the collection agency thats responsible for the hold & find out exactly how much your total fine is, & how much you can allocate a month to pay it off. this might show the judge that you're doing your homework & trying to get on top of your game.

also, for anyone reading this, pay your tickets when you get them! the government looks for ANY way to steal a slice of your pie, showing no penitence to slap on a $300 penalty (in my state) at the drop of a dime. so does the DMV! they also charge $65 to un-suspend your DL.
an $80 fine could be $445 overnight.
it's a crock of shit, but hey, its our government right?
pay your fines when they are due! =)

Thats a good idea but the only collection agency that has contacted/found me is the city of Los Angeles I've been getting letters well over a year now warning me about the possibility of collections and fucking up my credit but have yet to hear from anybody except the city
