contam question

so recently. ive tried making 2 batches of jars. and both got contaminated. the jars were used before. but i cleaned them in a dishwasher, then cleaned them with alcohol before mixing up the BRF/verm and putting itin there. i have a barrier layer...all my cakes have worked before, until now! every cake gets trich where it was injected. im using mycelium from an LC i have, thats not contamed. ive used the LC with WBS and had no problems.
so im wondering if any contams could survive a 1.5 hour 15 psi pressure cooking. it makes no sense, i have a still air box. flame my needle between jars. yet everyone contams the same way. wtf!!!
anyone have any ideaS?

Highly unlikely.
I would say that somewhere between your lc and your inoculation, lies your troubles.

Wiping down the inoc spots with alcohol is necessary prior to each injection if not each jar... This might be the culprit? Think how many tiny mold spores could be just waitin for your needle to hitch a rid.... Not sure if you did this, but it's essential

good point. i only wipe the jar lids with alcohol before all the material goes in. not right before inoculation. but man, i highly doubt that EVERY jar had the same problem!!!!
its driving me crazy! no way this is normal
never had trich problems before. not atleast until the FC..

Yeah that's a quandary my friend... You'd be surprised how tenacious those mold spores can be though... The one time I got lazy and did not wipe the jar tops... I had all of em contam and had to dump em... Probably a few other factors play a role, but I'm guessing that was the main source of infection... 1.5 hours at 15psi is the sweet spot... You're substrate should have been fine...

man. ill prepare some more jars tomorrow. maybe this time i wont make 18 tho. lmao. i thought for SURE this time i wouldnt have a problem. lol...they were brand new jar lids. i just drilled out
i baked my verm layer at 350 for 2 hours (forgot about it..) so i really know everything should have been fine!!
im having a hard time thinking its because i didnt wipe down my jar lids. the needle doesnt even really touch it if your a good shot

Some of us (me) have issues with shaking. And I don't mean small shivers, we're talking cerebral palsy level shaking whenever I try to do anything delicate. Have you tried moving your glovebox/workarea to a different part of your dwelling/abode?

It could just be a run of bad luck, i have never baked the verm layer. Pressure cooker is more than enough to sterise the contents of the jar.
You can try wiping your jar lids down more, but i dont think that would be the problem, as you should have foil on your lids, which u dont take of till you are ready to inoc.

all my inocculations are done in my bathroom. 4 days ago, knocked up 4 jars of WBS and they are almost 100% just 2 days ago i transfered some WBS from jars to containers, today mycelium fuzz is breaking through already.
so why the hell are my jars going to shit! i even used a new needle last time.
i am using LC for inoculation. could something be going wrong from that??
the LC i used. was a koh sumai fruit clone. i made 1 master, then a month later made 2 more LC's one using honey, the other karo. the karo is fine, the honey got contammed (first time in an LC) now i tried using the koh to knock up jars, and it got contam. i figured the LC was bad, so i tried another LC from a multispore of MAZZ. still got the green. drivin me nuts!
in the same incubation chamber, is my WBS casings which are contam free.

yeah, i would never do anything sterile in my bathroom. ever. and my guess for your contam problems (if not the restroom) would be the syringe used for sucking up your clean LC hasn't been completely sterilized. just my guess, but it seems to make sense if the LC really is clean and you're getting trich only on the inoculation sites.

my house is under 2 years old. granted its not safe from everything. i spray oust in the room. turn off the AC. and use a still air box...
and yah. i thought after my first mess up it was the syringe suckin up the mycelium. so this last time, i sucked up alcohol, and let it sit for 2 hours. then boiling water through it. then sucked up the mycelium. im sure thats sterile

Gotta be the LC. Same thing happened to me with the Koh Sumai super strain. My LC looked fine, but my WBS got F'ed. I find using a print the best start. Print to syringe, then hydrate for 24hrs, and you have a shotgun. I am curious though why are you making cakes when you got a good WBS operation going?? That's all I use for spawn.
