so i need to find n with a 95% confidence interval and a margin of error of 1.5. and i have no idea where to start please help

the question is:
if you were going to collect a sample to form a 95% confidence interval for the population mean, and you wished to have a margin of error of 1.5 what sample size would you collect? assume that you do not know the population standard deviation.

Usually, margin of error is given as a percentage. If you mean 1.5% margin of error, then the population size needs to be 3518. (Assuming I ran the numbers correctly; it has been a while since I took stat)

If you have Microsoft Excel, there are some great add-ins that will solve this shit for you. My favorite is called MegaStat, but the more frequently used one is PHStat2.
