My first grow (Great Pics)

Hey guys, Well I'm a little under a week into knocking up my jars, and I thought I'd let everybody check out whats been going on. I'm very sure its mycelium growing and not mold or whatever so I thought I'd post some nice macro pics of my (what I think is) healthy mycelium.

So I hope these help out anybody whos just starting out growing or is unsure what mycelium is suppose to look like (I thought this was cobweb for a while before I knew better )

Most def. I'll try to keep everybody updated on how its going. I'm really suprised I didnt get any contaminations (so far at least) in my first grow. This forum should add a grow journal category so ppl can post what they've been doing throughout the whole grow.

Keep notes on successful techniques so you don't skip a step (or add one) on your next grow.

Is the grow log post ability requirements the same as viewing the marketplace forum? I am close to my three months, and have more than enough posts.

hey while I have a thread up I mind as well ask about something thats been on my mind. Do you guys think I should leave the foil on the jars like I have been or take it off? they seem to be doing just fine but I was thinking they might colonize a little faster with a bit more FAE without the foil? or is this risky for contams? idk...what do you guys think??

You should probably leave it on to avoid contams at such an early stage. If it grows let it grow

there are differencing opinions on this. If you used a dry verm layer and or tyvek you should be ok to remove the foil. Since I started using tyvek, I dont use foil any longer, but my pc doesnt splash water around while pc'ing.

Yup. Removing the foil will allow for better gas exchange, helping your mycelium. Provided you have the verm or tyvek on there...

i removed mine and it worked well... also i dropped one because the lid was too loose and all of the verm layer spilled on the floor, i recapped it and it grew perfectly fine.
don't stress. im in the process of my first grow and i have also gone through some rough patched everything will turn out just fine.
also, i also (being a nooblet) thought that my first signs of mycelium were cobweb rofl.
cheers,

yea i have the dry verm layer..There in a rather clean place so I think ill remove it on a couple just to see if it speeds things up a bit. and maybe re-tape the holes with more medical tape.

At this point in your grow you do not want any FAE(Pinning/fruiting trigger). You simply want to allow for gas exchange(releasing co2). Your inoculating holes should be sufficient for this as long as nothing is blocking them. Good looking growth. Be patient.
