It;s pretty much all about electronic manipulation these days
There are still good bands, but they could hardly be called rock

No way, Neil is a prophet. As long as there is an appreciation for real, dirty ROCK it will never die. There will always be a guitar riff kicking your ass. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant will be bowed to. Kids all over the world will try thier whole lives to emulate.
New bands will try...and some will also become legends in thier own right.

i disagree about any really new bands now becomming legendary. rock shows just arent the same, no new acts are pulling crowds like old rock acts kids arent sleeping outside windows for rock anymore
big crowds are only at festivals and old bands (stones, u2)
fall out boy or panic at the disco arent selling out stadiums
people trampled each other to see the who ...

Just because the masses have given up on a thing, does not make that thing in any way 'dead'

Once, men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.

I think that is what I was trying (unsuccessfully) to say. Thanks Tren!

Yeah that confused me too
-------------------- "And we, inhabitants of the great coral of the Cosmos, believe the atom (which still we cannot see) to be full matter, whereas, it too, like everything else, is but an embroidery of voids in the Void, and we give the name of being, dense and even eternal, to that dance of inconsistencies, that infinite extension that is identified with absolute Nothingness and that spins from its own non-being the illusion of everything."

I think he was using Fallout Boy as an example of new rock, not necessarily real rock.

Ah, that makes alot more sense
When people start making a parallel relation between neil young and fall out boy you might as well just sit and wait for the other 3 horsemen

We hit a second peak from about 1989-97. Just because the music is in a rut doesn't mean it's dead.

This is one my favorite songs of all time. Neil Young was a god. On par with Dylan, but not quite at his level.
I agree almost completely with what your saying. To me, I don't think music will ever be what it used to. It's 500 times more superficial these days.

What we need is another superdrug like acid to start a psychedelic revolution
It'd be so lame if music was infuenced by pharmacuticals (spelling?)

I generally find it even harder to find good hip hop then good rock these days.
Then again, I'm just not a huge fan of hip hop to begin with.

Don't get me wrong, but there is much better real hip hop produced nowadays compared to real rock nowadays.

That was a really good performance. Thanks.
I'm hoping that this is just a phase in music history. Perhaps there will be a rock resurgence. There are a few good groups out there such as The Hives, The White Stripes and Jet right now though. Maybe a couple more. It's good to know that CSNY is still doing shows as well as a lot of the other old school rockers.
