other than a substance.. what's your addiction?
exercise? travel? shopping? cleaning?
what just makes you happy?
mine is buying records... it's the most expensive, most satisfying habit i've ever had... I'm sitting here right now surrounded by ~$10k in vinyl, purchase price.. actual value is probably a little less than that, since most is electronic music that won't appreciate in value for years, if at all.
It doesn't matter if i'm digging through records at a street sale or garage sale... or through new releases at the record store... or digging through back-stock when the store lets me.. or shopping on GEMM or MusicStack... I feel immensely satisfied when I find something I really like.. whether it cost me $1 or $100, too.
I 7", 10" and 12" circles of hard vinyl.

Incense. I spend mucho dinero on incense. I just got a $40 shipment in from Incense Warehouse just yesterday. I love trying out new kinds. Ahhh all the beautiful smells.
I see it like art for your sense of smell.
I don't like those cheap 10 cent sticks you see in the big displays that are just a neutral base dipped in some cheap smelling oil and smell more like burning sawdust with a hint of fragrance. I like the good stuff!
EDIT: Oh yeah and my computer, but I'm gunna take a wild guesss and say this one applies to +90% of anyone that will be posting on this board I the intrawebz!

LIVING LIFE! Basketball, Skateboarding, lifting wieghts, taking a jog, HIP HOP, Talib Kweli, getting blazed, trippin on mushies (preferably cyanescens!), eating food, hanging out with friends on campus, going to parties, hanging out with sexy females, wrting raps, freestyling either by myself or a group of friends, myspace haha, expanding my mind/ gaining knowledge, having good long worthwhile talks with people who can hold them, helping people with their personal problems ie: tough times- trajedic experiences- depression, being productive with my time and getting tasks and things done ie: NOT WATCHING MEANINGLESS TV
("TV, FEAR, PAIN will leave you STAINED." -Zion I)
and overall just progressing my life and trying to be a better person everyday i awake a new day on this exquisitly magnificent creation called

Looking at wooden and stone plugs (earrings, I'm referring to). I have looked at about 10 different websites and a couple shops in the past week.
I'm pretty much addicted to thinking about piercings and tattoos, too. Sometimes I can't sleep because I'm thinking about putting some piece of artwork on my body.
Also.. I'm addicted to looking at different jobs that I can feel wothy about investing some time in between now and next September. This is likely because I've been unemployed for a week.

I think I'm a little bit addicted to shopping. I don't always spend money...sometimes I will just take a cart load of stuff into the change room and try everything on in different combonations. Shoes too. OMG shoes. I love trying on shoes and strutting around in front of mirrors. The higher the heel, the better. I get a rush buying new stuff.
My other addiction is the internet. I can leave it for a week or two...but I always come back. It's like crack for me. Every once in awhle I run into people who NEVER use the internet, and can barely turn on a computer. This is beyond my comprehension. Not even older type peoples, young peoples who can't burn a CD. It blows me away. How do you pay your bills? How do know what is happening in the city? WHY DON'T YOU HAVE FACEBOOK?!!!!!!

I like rolling with my homies 4 deep going on cruises with good tunes and good grrrrnz.
I garden when i can.
I like going to the bar kicking back a couple drinks while flirting with the ladies.
I like helping people out anyway i can. I like meeting people and learning about what ever it is that is them.
I like playing with instruments. I like playing with fire. I like traveling.
These are all the tiny addictions that I love, that make up the big addiction of staying alive and living.

One of my hard to define addictions would be for analysis and precision.
Constantly I find myself deeply immersed in the potential reasons for why things happen around me.. things as simple as why a car in front of me lines up crooked in the lane while waiting for a stoplight, or how people's actions and body language may be conveying their untold thoughts and desires, and what those thoughts and desires may be. Also definitions of a word or phrase, place, or thing as used in the context of an earlier discussion.
Often I place my daily interactions with friends, family, and strangers under personal scruitany in order to evaluate whether or not I felt that I had adequately expressed myself, and if not, how I could better improve my expressions and reactions in the future, and even whether further social clarification with the person(s) is warranted in order to correct a potential mistake or misunderstanding (I've been known to verbally address situations with friends that occurred hours or even days prior, to many puzzled looks of foggy memory).
I strive to be correct, but always recognize that I will often be wrong. Respect and understanding is likely what motivates me in these behaviors. I don't beat myself up for anything I may have done which I subsequently evaluated as inadequate or incorrect, but it does encourage me to research and gain that much more knowledge and understanding about myself, others, or the topic at hand, such that I may not repeat the same errors in the future.
