wow man my season is not over yet! i just picked a pound fresh yesterday and there were probably at least 100-150 new pins!
i guess its just where you live, either that or the place where this area/patch is is well nourished and has perfect substrate
the forcast looks pretty decent to me however... we'll see tho

well its not effecting my patch at all!!!
and besides the chance of snow tonight, the forcast looks perfect for mushies, no freezing temps overnight according to weather.com

So, it seems like my season is over unless I happen to stumble upon a patch not damaged from the cold, which is very unlikely.
Here are a few pics(as of two days ago) of the second biggest patch, which put out 3.5 pounds fresh 2-3 weeks ago.

Just a report from the area for the cold.
Seasons not over yet in Oregon either. Nice azies along central coast (yes they are for sure azies that are that far south) found today, most had a bit of slug munch going on (some of those slugs looked way loopy). The habitats a coastal dune grass but it's in a place that someone must have dumped some yard waste into the roadside or something because it is heavy varied wood matter with a bamboo garden posts in it. Because of how heavily the debris is dumped some of the mushrooms are growing fully mature under debris and have a long thick twisted stem that had tried to push the cap through the cover and failed. I'm thinking because they grow to full mushrooms covered that they might come up for a bit longer into this cold even.
There's still some pins out there too, some look healthy, but lots grow just to the point that the veil breaks a little then the cold get them. Some very big mommas though.
Snow in the forecast Willamette valley on Sat. but there was some good size in a park on Mon. so I might go try to do a rescue of any soldiers about to fall in this coming storm before it hits to hard.
One crazy thing from the azies patch on a Thanksgiving hunt was the frozen stems were so solid I had to check twice to make sure it wasn't a twig I was trying to snap with my fingernail. (I think those girls would have mushed as soon as the sun hit 'em they were shroomcicles for sure, good big fruits though.

I'll be headed to the coast on thurs, fri to check for azures. Seems like a pretty good forecast for them. I don't think our season is too close to over yet.

I have traveled to the coast many times this fall on hunts for azies and I haven't come up exactly empty handed but the more I learn and look at them the less I think that what I am finding is indeed azies. I unfortunately don't have a good camera(hope to fix soon) but what I was finding were small and scatted under the costal conifers in the somewhat sandy soil. I would have to search for 45 minutes to about an hour to run across 1. The cap was very dome like, sometimes being slightly darker in the middle but with no "nipple", the color was very "Carmel" like. The stem is white, hollow at the base and bruising blue without even being picked. When I was first finding these I was sure they were Azies but they look nothing like H_Wrabbits pictures or casgoodie were they are pointed caps, the ones I find are again very rounded and dome like. Also the stems seem to be a little thinner and keep the mushroom relatively small.
It's to hard to just read up on Azies and go try and hunt them, all you read is wood debris and mulch on the oregon coast, I have been everywhere from right on the beach to dunes to right where the tree lines start, in the trees and beyond it seems. It's a long drive for me and I'm lucky enough to have only gotten one ticket, heh. I just want to figure these Azies out because I love them

I usually go away from the water far enough that the soil becomes mostly soil (rather than sand). I don't usually find them on wood, myself. usually I find them growing out of grass patches. Usually, I don't find them too close to conifers. The plant called "scotch broom" seems to be a pretty good indicator plant. I also find them around the base of the willows fairly often(except for when it's real boggy around them.
Hope this helps you out a little...
