My old 8 quart pressure cooker could only hold 2 quart jars which were not standing upright.

The 6 quart CANNOT. The 8 quart I believe you can put 2 on their side, but can't stack them sideways and cannot place them upright.

The 6qt will hold 3 wide mouth 1Qt jars , but will not allow a regular mouth 1Qt jar to stand up due to height limitations.

My first PCer was a 6. It held 1 qt jar on it's side.
I found it held 4 pint jars better though

I got an 8qt "Mirro" brand at Walmart. I can stand quart jars up in it, it will hold 4. Only goes to 10 psi, you have to cook it longer. Actually it's pretty crappy but hey it was cheap.
Dare you to write a review on the Walmart website. "Sterilizes my substrate just right, no contams, just pure mushroom goodness"
