From what I can tell you can use any pump, he just happened to use a dual outlet pump. It doesn't mention why, it was probably just because thats what he had, but it also could be because they have a greater output (mine is 270litres per hour), or perhaps he only had one tube going into the water and one just for fresh air.

I dunno, but if you haven't got a pump at all yet, it wouldn't hurt to spend the extra $$ to get a dual output one. (Mine was only ?3 or something more than the usual one). If you've already got a pump, just use that one.

I've just read it again, and I am convinced he used the dual outlet one because a single outlet one isn't enough for air exchange. With the dual outlet one you shouldn't need to open your setup up at all as it should provide addequate (sp?) air exchange.

A single output airpump is enough to provide the air exchange, provided you have a way for the CO2 to get out.

Take a look at the mushroom pictures section for my post today, and you'll see several cakes producing nicely with air exchange being provided solely by a single output airpump.

I also have a post in this forum on 6/04 that talks about how the terrerium was built.
