What's with ppl who don't know their RH levels?

I've been noticing as of late, that some ppl who run into fruiting problems after birthing don't give out any info regarding their setup when posting a question and most of those, when asked about RH in FC have no idea! How the hell can that be? Isn't RH one of the most important factors to maintain when growing mushrooms, sometimes even more important than the temperature? It's kind of frustrating, no wonder people are having so many problems, things like these could be avoided by simply making sure you have ALL the tools needed to measure shit accurately, something like "all conditions must be met for success" type of a thing. Would you know how to mix the substrate if you didn't have a measuring cup?

IMO a humidity gage isn't something im all that concerned about. Half of the gages you buy are not that accurate and cant even read over 80%. I use to have a digital weather station which worked ok but even after 4-5 days of use the readings would start to become inaccurate because the batteries not giving the power needed i suppose. i would change them out with new ones and everything would be fine again. but im sure as hell not going to spend money on batteries just to change them once a week.
Whats worked for me is if there is a good amount of condensation in your tank, they seem to do just fine with good FAE and correct temperature. just my 2cents. but a reliable humidity gage would be nice to have.

Petsmart and petco both sell a digital thermometer/hydrometer combo for 17 dollars. If you want the very cheap route they also sell stick on hydrometers for 4.99 that work up to 100% and are actually acurate within 3 % rougly. They also have awsome little remote digital thermometers with batteries for 7.99 These things are a great deal and you can put the sensor anywhere you want, but mount the display outside your FC, incubator ect for easy view.

WAY not true..
A simple coil hydrometer is ONLY accurate at 70 degrees.. dont believe me.. warm one up and watch the measurement change.
YOu can recalibrate them for higher temps, but it looses accuracy.
Also over 85% most are useless

me if you have questions about lasers Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles. FeelFamily resident tech guru

Ive never measuered the rH in my FC and I've had a successful grow everytime. As long as you do everything right then you should be good, if you run into problems then you might want to check out your rH, among other factors. But theres no reason to have a hygrometer if youre not having problems. You also dont need one to increase it either.

I don't see the need for buying a hygrometer..It's easily possible to do without one if you know what you're doing. Not really worth the time or money at this point.

So, if one had money to spend (not 100's of dollars) what is a good one to buy?

oh silly slimz, they call it relative humidity because it is relative to temperature. of course the reading is going to change when you heat it.
