Best hpoo?

Hello all
Long time reader/lurker, new member. I was wondering if there is a consensus on which vendor has the best hpoo/compost out there now, since tstudd is no longer an option. I am in the market for some, but with shipping the stuff aint exactly cheap, it's one thing to blow $12 in rye, but it's another to blow $80 in compost. I don't mean to put any vendors on the spot or anything, I was just hoping to get some independent hpoo reviews. I was going to post a poll but wasn't sure if the mods would appreciate that in a sponsors forum.
As I see it now my choices are mycopath or highmountain? Mushy mart has been good to me in the past but they are out. Do not want to do deal with unpasteurized substrates, far too ambitious a project for me, and I'm not 100 confident on the outcome, would prefer it was done right. Thanks all, I will go back to lurking now

I'd rather you get some comments from some of the Members rathering than making a poll that could be compromised by puppets.
thanks!~

Yes I had hoped to get some opinions for other members too lol. Boy, it's tough being a newbie, but hey in the current climate, you can't be too careful. Fwiw, I am using the hpoo for my tomatoes. What else would anyone use hpoo for?
I will check this thread from time to time, but as I mentioned in my original post, there aren't exactly a lot of choices out there right now anyway. I could always flip a coin I guess.

In my opinion and experience(having used all vendors on this board), High Mountain Compost is the best whereas it is the only true compost offered on these boards. Where it lacks is that it is the most expensive and cost more to ship. Mycopath being $.50/lb cheaper and cheaper shipping is also a good product and Graham sometimes throws in a little extra if his supplies allow. Making your own is very cheap also. Hope it helps.

I believe Mycopath has already sold out of their substrate.

This sucks, I was going to wait for 2 days before I ordered hpoo from Mycopath as that is roughly when my rye jars will be complete.
How long can I let my jars sit for 100% colonized?
I really only want to deal with Mycopath so I don't mind waiting if the jars will be okay.

Put them in the fridge until you're ready to use them, but if it looks like it's going to be a month before he's redistributing again, then I would look for another substrate.
Allow your jars to come to room temp a day or two before spawning them out of the fridge.

Just so everyone knows, HMC's 25% discount for shroomery members brings the price of 30lbs to $107.55. Mycopath's straw/manure mix is $104.95 for the same weight.

Just wanted to update. I had actually planned to order from Mycopath, but they were out of stock when I tried to order. That left only High Mountain. I know they have been in the compost business for a while, but was always scared off by either the prices or their distance from me. But with the 25% discount the price was about the same. Btw, the way to get the discount is to write "SPH" on the order you mail in, then subtract 25% from the price of the compost (before shipping). Was also disappointed that I couldn't pay online, but I needed some substrate so I went ahead and ordered.
Since HMC is west coast, and I am not, I expected this stuff to slow boat it across the country via UPS and spend a solid week in transit, but I was surprised to find that it was shipped USPS and made it to me in 3 days. I have not had a chance to try it yet (it actually arrived before my spawn was ready), but I have to say it looks pretty heavenly. Nice deep, dark chocolate brown, clean, nice moisture content. I'll update if the results are as impressive.
So, after having mailed my order on a Monday morning (and putting the envelope in an Express mail collection box by mistake lol), I had the product in hand on the following Mon., not bad and way sooner than I expected. According to the write-ups, this substrate has the added benefit of holding up well under storage, assuming the bag remains sealed. At least that is what I'm told. we shall see
But as far as turnaround time, HMC definitely came thru

High Mountain compost comes pasteurized and hydrated so you can't really compare the weight to Grahm's manure which is dehydrated, and a better deal IMO.

Incorrect. His substrate is fully hydrated and ready to use out of the bag.

I have kept HMC for as long as 6 months and it was still perfectly useable. I never kept Mycopath for any longer than a week whereas I always used it right away but it too was perfect after said time.

Right now he doesn't sell either, so I think it's a worthless argument.
And only those with the time and equipment will pasteurize their own substrates.
