fruiting reishi on paper?

RR shows an amazing pic of reishi growing in a phone book.

I'm planning to use paper towels. these appear to be clean -no much chemicals added- and are ink free.
my question is: transferring grain spawn to sterilized paper only, is sufficient for fruiting reishi or sawdust/chips are mandatory? misting the paper with coffee will help?

Use plain paper, no coffee or other nutrients. However, used paper makes more ecological sense. That's why I use old phone books, newspapers, junk mail, etc. It's better to grow mushrooms, and then bury the spent substrate into flower beds, rather than put them into landfills or other garbage dumps.
Don't worry about inks, especially in the US. The inks are soybean based, thus a possible nutrient, not a contaminant. RR

I'm starting 4 projects.
the first two are paper inoculated with LC: jar 1 is filled with clean, ink free, paper towels. jar 2 is filled with the suckest and fuckest supermarket offers newspaper, full of the worst ink. this is the "save the planet" jar
jar 3 is clean towels, and jar 4 is hardwood sawdust, both will be inoculated with grain spawn (now in production)

I doubt you'll have much success inoculating paper with liquid culture. I'd suggest at least brf cakes, if not grains. RR

paper jars pre loaded with some rye could do the trick?
paper must be pasteurized, not sterilized, isn't?
