I'm one week into incubating my culture jars and I don't see any growth of mycelium whatsoever. What could be the problem?

Explain your set-up. You might have something wrong there. It might be the spores, but if the set-up is wrong, then it's very fixable.
How warm are you keeping your jars? What did you inoculate them with? Do you have gas exchange in your jars? How are you accomplishing your gas exchange? Does your substrate have the right moisture content?
Some people don't see growth for over a week, so be patient. But it isn't too common that it takes longer than that.

I didn't see growth in my very first mycobag, had that baby sitting few awhile, then came across some reading and decided to take the advice and placed it above the fridge in the cabinet. Within a day or so growth started. Seems the heat the fridge gives off keeps it nice and warm (around 80-85ish or so)

yes, you are going to want to keep your bags around 80 degrees. higher than that, and you are unnecessarily risking contamination. contams like the higher temps. Mycelium tends to like the 78-82 degrees F.

Studies of green and black mold which are the ones we come across the most on here successfully grew at 60-90F so I don't understand what ppl are talking about, keeping the temp at 70's to combat contamination...
The way I look at it is, if your substrate is already contaminated, you're fucked and it'll grow on there either way. If it's sterile and you only have myc growing, it'll be fine at mid 80's... *shrug*

I have two rubbermaid containers the bottom one has water with a submergible water heater. The top one has 8 jars inoculated with Golden Teacher. The bottom of the top container gets 80 degrees F and the top of the jars get about 78 degrees F. I open up the container about 3 times a day to let fresh air in. I've heard that it can take a while. I just wanted to make sure because the guide said I should see mycelium growth within 5 days.

I have 3 type of jars I'm currently incubating, the only one that got some sort of growth after 1 week was the smallest one, the quarter pint jars... Both regular and wide mouth half pint jars took about 10 days. By day 14 I had 50% colonization and what supercharged it, I believe, was opening up the inoculation holes for proper gas exchange. Once it starts, it speeds up nicely.

I found growth in about 4 jars today. 2 were thrown out because of black mold. Still have 6 left.
