money money money
That and liability. If the doc releases the kid and it turns out he downed a bottle of tylenol or percocet or something, which was masked due to the marijuana inebriation, his ass = grass.
If you skin your knee and go to the ER you'll be treated, that doesn't mean it was serious.
A good measure is to look at these cases and see what treatments were done, and were they admitted?
Really a marijuana OD will be tested for dangerous drugs and left alone to sober up, make sure they don't die from something, then discharged. The only workup will be tests to make sure they've not OD'ed on something that can harm them realistically.

Maybe you should say "Go raid the fridge and take a nap.DISCLAIMER: Don't blame the recording for obesity, that is McDonalds fault." instead of go take a walk.

Adverse effects
Akathisia may range in intensity from a mild sense of disquiet or anxiety (which may be easily overlooked) to a total inability to sit still, accompanied by overwhelming anxiety, malaise, and severe dysphoria (manifesting as an almost indescribable sense of terror and doom). Partly because the condition is difficult for the patient to describe, it is often misdiagnosed. When misdiagnosis occurs in antipsychotic neuroleptic-induced akathisia, more antipsychotic neuroleptics may be prescribed, potentially worsening the symptoms.[1] High functioning patients have described the feeling as a sense of inner tension and torment or chemical torture from the inside out.
Haloperidol is completely devoid of any potential psychological dependence. A greater problem is that psychiatric patients prescribed this drug may seek to avoid taking it and consequently risk relapse of their symptoms.
Oh god. I had that happen to me when I went to the ER for a very strong panic attack with violent coughing/choking.
They shot me in the ass with Geodon (ziprasidone) and within 30 minutes I was about passed out sitting in a chair, feeling really good. I went to lay down on the bed in the ER room and within 20 minutes I was wide awake, pacing back and forth screaming at people because it felt like I was being ripped apart from the inside out. I was yelling at nurses and freaking the fuck out till they gave me a crapload of xanax. I also had a completely overwhelming sense of terror.
It was 10 times worse than the panic attack, which had my heart rate at 180 and my arms and legs going numb and tightening up.
If I had a gun at that moment, I would have shot myself in the head to make the bad go away.
-------------------- Same thing happened to me when I played Neil Armstrong in Moonshot. They found me in an alley in Burbank trying to re-enter the earth's atmosphere in an old refrigerator box.
