The GD soundboard recordings on archive.org are only available to stream. You can't download the MP3s or SHNs.

Ohh man I want that plugin. I've been sore ever since they pulled all those soundboards off of archive

Yeah there's probably lots of ways you can capture an audio stream into an audio file but there's gonna be some loss in quality. The stream itself is much lower quality than if you were to listen to the actual lossless audio files from your hard drive. So I'll stick to what I can find on bt.etree.org and such for downloads but I still stream from archive a lot out of convenience and because of the graat selection. That's just me though, I'm a sound quality nerd I guess.

I don't know if I'm a sound nerd or not. I like mp3s over 192kbps most of the time if it's music. Is that being a sound nerd?

How to Rip archive.org shows! [Re: Learyfan]
    #7692123 - 11/28/07 07:01 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

I wanna download it too.  But I have to download a program first?  If so, I pass.  :nonono:

For the rest of ya's on Windows XP that may not want to download a third party program, I quickly snagged this show by:
  • Clicking Start -> Search -> For Files or Folders...
  • Click All Files or Folders
  • All or part of the file name: *.mp3
  • Look in: C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
  • Click Search

The tracks popped right up labeled in the following style: gd69-06-06d1t01_vbr[1]

Copy and paste 'em into a regular folder and there's any archive.org show you may be listening to. :gd_icon:

Variable Bit Rate (~ 178 kbit).
The LoveLight file is about 59.8mb.

theres an easy way to get the files in mp3, ripping the stream won't be as good quality.

go to your firefox or IE options and make the cache as big as you have room on your hard drive (making room for the songs), then stream away, and when the gray bar gets across on each song, that song is in your temporary internet files folder in mp3 format. transfer to another folder and make cds or whatever, its your song now. apparently the band doesn't care about people DL soundboards, but getting them in the way i've just described is technically illegal. make them into cds then delete them i'd say.

I'm impressed geokills. I had no idea that was possible. I still prefer SHNs and FLACS but that is undoubtedly cool.

My god, you are all thinking far far far too much about this.

Right click the track in the flash player, choose "download this song". Bang. It's yours. Alternately, if you use quicktime or QTalternative, once those load the song you can go file > Save as and its yours.

Thanks for the link. I remember reading about this in Rock Scully's piece of shit book. The books a piece of shit, but his recounting of the night is good.
